re: whats up with this shit

its true
the cav was sold as the toyota cavalier for a few years
thats why BoMeX has kits for them

in japan , the cavalier was marketed as a toyota, and i belive there performance one instead of being called a Z24 was known as a kangawa cavalier or something like that ,

yup so there u have it a riced out jdm cavalier tidbit of information

http://members.shaw.ca/toyota_cavalier/main.html

ok guess derek beat me to it

the JDM cavalier came from the factory with toyotas 1JZ, detuned to get better gas mileage.

it was turbo’d but only put out 115hp. alot of guys simply flashed the ECU and swapped injectors for a 350hp increase.

u’ll notice in that pic that the car has vertical doors. that was also a factory option for the JDM cavalier, which is why people over here do it to cavaliers. to be JDM tyte YO!

those graphics are based on the TRD factory graphics for the JDM cavalier. the reflashing of the ECU was such a popular mod that everyone was doing it and running huge horsepower out of their cavaliers forgetting it was still an american car.

as a result the cars were highly unstable and were often driven off the highways during wangan battles.

many went right over into the waterways and into the oceans. the hardcore wangan battlooers started nicknaming the car the ‘tsunami’ as a joke. some people took it seriously and toyota put tsunami inspired graphics on the side of the car in 19-dickity-6.

they had to say dickity because the japanese government stole the word for twenty. which doesnt really apply anyways because in 1926 the toyota cavalier and the 1JZ were still a few months out of production.

interestingly enough, the cavalier in japan has a sort of reverse evolution. right now they are phasing out the newer j-body style for the older sunbird version.

this is the TRD version here:

http://www.wickedbodies.net/88-94-Pontiac-Sunbird/Pontiac%20Sunbird%2088-94%20-%20vader%20fb.jpg

pretty fantastic if you ask me. you can see the bozosuko influence in the paint and the hood.

they’re also phasing out the 1JZ in favour of the much more potent sunbird 2.2L turbo that was found in early 90’s versions of the j-bodies.

the engine has been known to run a mid 13 scecond quarter mile in reverse. driving it in reverse of course make the car rear-wheel drive.

alot of people didnt realise that until well into the drifting craze. dudes were reverse drifting their j-bodies (now rear-engine, rear-wheel drive just like an MR2)

but it didnt go over as well as hoped

the guy in this picture, Steven Richnafsky, is famous for building some of the fastest, most hardcore JDM cavaliers in the world. with 700 shot of nitrous and a intake chip that tricks the engine into running fastet he was able to run a 11.2 in reverse with that very car you see in that pic.

^^^ you know… I almost belived you…

Bing, =D> that was the most incredible post ever…

lmfao 11.2 seconds reverse on the quarter mile

jdm tyte yo cavalier watch out…

bing, is there anything he can’t do?

bing should be in show business

Although the majority of the above story is true, he forgot to leave out a very important step in the toyoto cavalier history…This is the story of Bing “Long” Wong, grand tuner of the cavalierius maximus tunus organization.

Bing started out on humble beginnings, getting into tuning at an early age
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/9827/zacandhistruckbing5xj.jpg

After finally growing in age, and size, bing got into tuning real cars, seen here indicating proper wheel fitment:
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/2466/bingfitment4lx.jpg

And with real cars, comes real trouble. Seen here with his early friend greg:
http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/9144/bingandgreg2yg.jpg

Finally Bing picked up a Toyota Cavalier, after travelling to Japan and loosing a large part of his neck in a samurai battle:
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/5391/bingsamurai3xb.jpg

And began to HEAVILY MODIFY IT naturally aspirated style.
Here, is where he attempted to put NOT ONE:

NOT TWO:
http://bings.ca/images/DSC02195.JPG
BUT THREEEEE INTERCOOOLZARZZZ! on his highly modified, naturally aspirated Toyota Cavalier Tsunami, this is a spy shot taken by the local tuning police of Bing dancing on the hood of his HIGHLY MODIFIED cavalier:

Nobody knows what happened to bing and his super tuned toyota…some say he went on to develope his own company of well-made-in-taiwan parts. Some say he became vice-president of an online car forum…nobody knows for certain.

… 1JZ-GTE ?? you sure they put a 2.5L I6 under the hood ( JZA70 /MK III supra engine ,…) I mean NA the 1jz puts out 190hp… that’s a tonne of detunning. I can see the 3S or 4A being used even a 1ZZ from the celica…

figures the guy that owns his own shop is the only sucker ;]

wtf where did i come from!!

and what picture is that

GT

Duhh

The J from j-bodies comes from JDM.

Bahahahahahaha – classic
