You can’t pay for something with money that you didn’t “earn”. The government just takes some of the money so you are given less. They just give you the responsibility of making sure they deducted the right amount.

Travis…in most cases your ex employer pays the unemployment benefit so it’s not tax payers money or government money, at least a bunch of it anyhow. And by working for a company and paying into the tax pool and what not you do EARN the benefit of unemployment insurance. It’s not the gift many presume it is FWIW.

I didn’t know much about the system before getting into the stock market/economy, being laid off after 10 years service and dating a girl with a father that pays out the ass for unemployment benefits for his small biz he owns (2-5 workers). They almost make it impossible for a small biz to succeed with all the unemployment and workers comp insurance a biz needs to pay for. He does construction so the comp insurance is a killer.

I have no leech skills like some people out there that pass down information on how to rip off the system, generation after generation. I come from a working class family and I have worked hard at all my jobs. I was blown away at this past lay off. The department head and my manager both went to the bean counters and said they needed me back…they were shut out. Silver lining cause I’m loving the new job at UB. :slight_smile:
