Not bad for getting fired

image

CEO’s of huge corporations never lose out getting fired. The best part is that as long as they didn’t get fired because they’re going to prison some other giant company will hire them.

Parts are supposed to “land” today (term they keep using so I assume that means more parts from Germany) so hopefully that’s the last parts and they can put it back together and get it to paint soon.

Hopefully they weren’t on a ship coming into the Baltimore port…

this is such an interesting topic. oddly, i think you have to pay someone a shit ton to be crazy enough to take one of those jobs anyways.

Other than the money, who really wants to do any of that?

I’m guessing golden parachutes are given to departing executives because they hold a lot of private company information / secrets

I honestly don’t even think its a big deal. I think more and more of these people do the least as possible for 3-4 year, bail and jump into another company to ruin. They hire each other back and forth all day, its sick.

Update. Currently at $4,500 for a plastic bumper cover and fender.

WTF. Estimate was $1,800 for just the cover and inspections and I thought that was high.

Seems like $13292 might be the final number on mine since it hasn’t changed since the whole back and forth with the insurance company after the initial teardown. Got a DroneMobile notification my car started and then stopped this morning (first it’s moved since the first couple days it was there) and about 30 minutes later got a text from their contact system saying they were continuing the repairs. Also got an alert from DroneMobile that my battery was critically low (11.6 volts). Like most modern cars I know my Audi runs down the battery after a couple weeks of sitting so I texted them back asking if they could toss a trickle charger on it at some point.

Picked up my daughters car yesterday.

The only part of the process I did not like was being left out of the discovery and their conversations with Geico.

Ended up with a damn near whole new front end including a headlight.

When I saw the list I immediately felt scammed.

I take the blame, because I did not specify that I wanted to save the guy that hit her car money and also left town twice during the process.

Mike did show me the pictures of the little bits that were bent and/or had a tiny broken tabs.

At least I saved the potential future in-laws $200 by turning in the BMW a week early during my 2nd trip.

They also gave me some touch up paint. Maybe I’ll put some on the other rusty fender.

I’d expect them to fix every little thing they find unless you specifically told them not to. Even then I’m sure most places would probably push back on cutting any corners because they don’t want the liability down the road.

On my car I get a generic copy/paste update via their txt system every few days that “repairs are continuing as scheduled”. 4/4 I replied to the txt and asked if they had a rough ETA on completion and got this:

“Hi Jason, as far as a timeframe of the repairs we don’t have an answer at this time as it does depend on a lot of moving factors and variables. As we continue to move forward with the repairs I will keep you updated as we get to each phase. Thank you and have a great weekend!”

Initial estimate was 4 to 6 weeks and it was dropped off 3/11 so we weren’t quite 4 weeks when I got that response so I’m not upset at the “continuing as scheduled”. I know they’re working on it because the last couple days I’ve been getting “engine started/engine stopped” alerts from Drone Mobile again.

More concerned that they do the repair right than fast.

lol.
I am at fault for not trying to keep cost low and asking for more info.
I tried searching car-part.com but did not see any matching colored parts at what I thought were reasonable prices.

I paid an additional the $350 to have the driver door hinge replace also as it was being a PITA and would occasionally rub the fender assuming it needed to be painted and I don’t paint.

I’m a shady tree part swapper and now need to buy passenger headlight because the housings were junk to start.

Got a different update today.

Hi Jason, wanted to give another update based on your vehicle. We are still moving forward with the repairs, we have cut the quarter panel off the vehicle. Once we are onto the next phase I will send you over another update. Thank you and have a great day!

“Cut the quarter panel off” sounds concerning.

EDIT: Yeeaaah… just watched a video on the rear quarter. All I can say is… “fucking Germans”.

I would have 100% snagged a door and pocketed the money

There was a lot more damaged than just the door. Rear quarter was pretty bad too. Wheel looked toe’d in a bit as well.

Plus, this isn’t some beater I smash around in the winter… I want it fixed right like it was before this cunt decided to drive into it.
