as far as mto goes you have to take it to a Nissan dealer (401 and Dixie is best) to verify the vins then they write you a letter then you take it to mto then they register it and if they say some dumb shit all you have to do is TELL them to call the head office
Anyone know a easy program or site that you can run a 9 digit vin search to see the history from japan? Model of car, year and what not?
mto does it for free for you…
hmm I went there today and they couldn’t get any info about my car as I am the first owner in canada and they cant seem to track it back to japan. Most she could do is just change the ownership from quebec to a ontario ownership and put it in my name. Maybe I should try and talk to a more experienced mto person because they were really confused with my car. I was even thinking about going to nissan but I don’t know if they would need to see the car or if I could just tell them the vin to search. I don’t care if I have to pay I just want to know what the cars deal is. I heard of someone having a good program to find all the history of the vehicle in japan but it was a year+ old thread with no downloads to the program… I will look into it for now i guess…
I don’t understand how so many people have problems with insuring or registering right hand drive cars…
Bought my car from an importer, had it certified, registered, AND insured all within 2 days…
Everything’s legit, no re-vinning nothing…I still have my JDM vin and insurance knows it’s RHD.[COLOR=“Silver”]

I still had no luck yet. I almost had co-operators ready to insure my car so I could at least get a trip permit, then the lady tries telling me you need a safety and e test to get insurance. Does this make any sense? I thought the reason for a trip permit is to be able to drive and get a safety and e test… Hmm.
Yes and no.
If you bought a car from someone and the car was still registered under the sellers name, then all you would need is insurance to get your temporary “T” sticker along with a new plate.
If the car you bought is/was registered under your name, then you will need insurance, safety, and an etest in order to get the temporary “T” sticker along with a new plate but you might as well just pay a 1 or 2 year validation sticker since you already have all that.
fake etest and saftey. problem solved. Not like ive ever seen a sr actually pass a real etest
You haven’t seen enough SR’s.
I have got all of my trip permits without a safety and e-test after registering the car in my name. The ownership is unfit at first, and then when you come back with all of the right stuff it is transferred to fit and you get your validation sticker. Been the case with me.
The vehicle needs to be safetied before getting a “T” permit. Once you have the permit you then get an etest.
I had my car on a trailer the day I bought it and drove it across the street to get it safetied.
Plan ahead.
Mine passed with flying colors…[COLOR=“Silver”]
Yeah its more easy to not register the car in your name, just take in the insurance policy number with the signed ownership to the mto then get a travel permit. So I got a few quotes from some insurance company’s like td and co-operators, most gave me about the same magic number, $385 a month and that wasnt even covering my car damage in a accident… lol… So I wasn’t really down with those prices, moms friends a insurance broker who I been dealing with today, got the magic number of $166 a month full coverage with my own insurance " Need car appraised " , or $106 a month not covering my own car… Amazing the difference talking to the right people makes eh?
huh?
Send me your insurance company dude, I hate mine.
