Just finished installing a CT remote starter on a 91 coupe (yes it works:)) , It has the option of remote lock/unlock -has anyone tried this and does the driver’s side work with the existing actuator since it appears to only be able to unlock (ie from the pass. side)
you will need to buy another actuator for about $15 and mount it in the driver side door. the car only has one actuator and it’s in the pass door. driver door opens with human power only.
That was my first thought but then I noticed that the driver’s side will open electrically when you unlock the passenger side -so there is an actuator on the driver’s side but it seems to be wired to unlock only as you can not lock it from the pass. side. So I am wondering if anyone has used or rewired the oem actuator on the driver’s side to both unlock and lock via remote.
Yes your right you can rewire it to work i had a 92 coupe, took it to a shop and got my 2 way alarm installed, and my unlock/lock worked on my remote. Although i cant help you with which wires, but atleast you know it can be done.
All S13’s with power locks work off the drivers side door. The passenger side is independant.
When i got my new S13 i had to move over my alarm and did the re-wiring and if i remember correctly there is an orange w/ black stripe wire that sends the locka nd unlock signal to the passenger side.
If you remove your door panel you can follow the wiring from the door right to the inside of the car and you will see the plug there with the orange and black wire. If you disconnect the plug and try to lock the drives side door and the passenger doordoes not do the same then you know this is the plug for sure.
I am pretty sure it is the orange and black wire and you would hook it up to your alarm like this:
orange and black wire from car gets cut, then goes from drivers side to the alarm control box, then goes out from the alarm control box by another wire to orange and black wire again.
So when you hit the lock button on the alarm it will complete the circuit and lock the doors.
I think this is how I installed mine but all alarms are different. Try searching google for your alarm model installed and how to install it on 240sx’s. Someone out there must have installed one before.
Notes: This is one of the three known systems Nissan used in early production. To operate, open(cut) the org/blk wire and the doors will lock, pulse the same wire to round and the doors unlock. The other two systems are negative pulse (orange/black for lock and orange/blue for unlock both at the door lock timer in the passenger kick behind the ecm.) and non-centralized - add actuator in drivers door.
i have an 89 coupe and I did the install myself, when i lock the driver’s door inside manual it locks the passenger and also unlocks vice-versa.
check behind my driver’s kick panel saw the two wires orange/black for lock and orange/blue for unlock and it works perfectly fine.
