Agreed
I ran a 13.3, Sasha ran an amazing 12.2 you sir have to be somewhere in there.
I’m sick and tired of seeing these 14.7 Second 240’s at the track.
Bahahah – that’s it right there…
Let’s try to setup a drag event for the end of the summer. I’ve got a new turbo on order and will be looking to give it a workout.
I’ll be ready to go in about 2 weeks.
I’m gonna run the quarter mile

I’d be interested in running my setup at the drag for kicks but I dunno
when I’ll get my lazy ass to get it running. :o
I’m just curios on what it’d run.
Hahaha – well it looks like this thing is now dieing a slow death.
I have now discovered a hairline crack where the wastegate tube meets the collector.
I think I actually felt it go a few days ago on my way to work. I was logging some 16psi pulls getting ready for some dyno time next week and I felt it actually “pop”.
I got a little over a month out of this setup and the shitty thing is I now need to baby it for 5-6 weeks until I can pull it out.
I’m not sure I can go that long without pounding on my car.
that crack is right above the weld correct… SO even a high end welder can’t save these headers from dying…
So, who’s going to start up the shite talking about crap welding on this one?? everyone was quick to jump on the last one that broke, everyone was a professional then. :squintfinger:
^ you know you just ASK to be insulted dont you…
one false comment and this gets locked… and such
GT
Well - the interesting part here is the crack is actually on the WG tube side…not on the manifold side. So the mani is still good. I’m sure if I cared I could have it welded up again…but I just don’t
I’m going to the best this time…
dan, dont bother with the external wastegate man…just get any HKS-GT series turbo with the HKS internal wastegate and run any manifold that fits well. Use the megan downpipe with the flex in it, and chance are ure manifold will not crack at all. The exhaust shaking left to right is what breaks the manifolds and the 4 hole (turbo- manifold) gasket…I suggest doing what i did, using a megan style manifold with a good ceramic coating…did a sick job for my car…
external gates are awesome they spool up so much faster and control boost so much more accuratly than stupid ass internal peices of shit
where did the tube on the wg side split ?
at the seam on the mild steel or away from the seam ?
i could see the seam cracking/splitting for sure
just to add to varun’s post… exhaust movement/weight can be a cause for the manifold itself to crack perhaps but the richer the car runs the quicker the header will crack from burning of fuel in the manifold
Nah man…external > **
I’ve already ordered my Full-Race ProStreet Manifold (externally gated obviously) so I’m sure I’ll be good.
I have to say it Dan but I told you it would crack…
Now with this New Proper Manifold we “actually” going to see 300whp?
Hahah - I hear ya buddy. I guess I just drove it “too” hard.
I’ll strap her on as soon as we have the new mani in place. 300 should be quit easy with the newer setup
i want 3 things
cams
intake mani
exhaust mani
and then just cause im greedy
splitfire coilpacks
that is all
lets go drag racing
That’s what I like to hear…
^^^ Don’t you mean 4 things. The 4th being a working motor?
Well - I BABIED it for another week (no boost, neverf shifter higher than 4k) and it is now officially undriveable.
It is going to be a long 5 weeks until it is up an running again… sux
So – it’s time to finally close this chapter on this little experiment.
I finally had some time today to get under the hood and rip this thing out… below is some of the sadness.
Slarted early while the g/f was sleeping…so needed some light.
Started to wiggle the wastegate and …oops…
And when it was all out…I put it to rest…
Final project tally…
Manifold: $230
Ceramic Coating: $150
Custom Fab Work: $50
Flanges and tubing: $50
Lesson learned: Priceless
