Restaurants that don't suck thread

Curlys is awesome, it’s the most upscale place in Lackawanna for sure, price is high for the area, but low for the quality of food

Just treated about 70 people to Rick’s on Main yesterday, everyone I talked to loved it. (Funeral for my mother-in- law :frowning: )

Emily’s Family Diner (Sheridan at Main in Clarence). Hardly a 5 star establishment but we were looking for somewhere different for breakfast a couple weeks ago and tried it out. Had a great breakfast and it was cheap, service was quick and friendly. Cash only. At first I thought the single pancake option for a side was a ripoff since most places give you 2 or 3 until the pancake arrived it was as big as a large dinner plate.

I live not far from there and always wondered about that place. You should try the Hillside on Transit down by Zorbas and the U-Haul place, decent and pretty cheap, fair portions too. Also try the Howling Rooster cafe (formally Vasili’s) on Kenmore ave, decent breakfast place too.

that would be hillVIEW.

Good call, I have only been there about 30 times and still get it wrong :banghead:

I went to Asian Star in West Seneca this past weekend. Definitely the best General Tso’s I’ve had in the WNY area. Urban Spoon had mixed reviews but I would say it’s better than Changs Garden AND Eastern Pearl for you local Southtowners and willing to drive Northtowners.

My Fiancé had the Vegetarian Pad Thai and LOVED it as well.

Siq! I’ll be at West Herr late tomorrow so maybe I’ll shoot over there and grab some General Tso’s.

DO IT! You will not regret it if you do.

I think May Jen has the best General Tso’s in buffalo but I’ve never been to Asian Star.

Couple places ive been to…

Break’n Eggs on Main in Williamsville, very good crepes and other breakfast stuff.

Tratoria Aroma(sp?), terrible service, high prices, crappy italian food.

Gianni Mazzias in Clarence on Main, great pizza and their meatball open face sandwich is incredible.

Amaretto on Transit in Clarence, best lasagna ive ever had. They also have killer pesto for their homemade bread.

Romeo and Juliets on Sheridan in Amherst/williamsville has some great pizzas for a good price.

^^^ I went to Trattoria Aroma once as well and was not impressed.

Had Kabab and Curry on Transit for the second time in the past few months, good Indian food.

Break n egg is fucking amazing

Sterling Place Tavern:

Went there this Friday with the wife and some friends, I had a very good burger there (not the best I have every had, but pretty good for sure) and one of the most interesting experiences overall. Things to be aware of if you go there:

  • They open when they want to, there are no set hours at all, we got there about 6ish and were the first customers as I think they just opened.
  • Its like sitting in someones old basement inside.
  • Any attire is considered good.
  • Our waitress (also owner) came and sat down at our table (she didn’t want to stand) and described the entire menu (menu written on the wall) this was kinda sweet of her actually, makes ya feel like she’s your grandma or something.
-Food can take quite a while, be prepared to munch on free popcorn til then.
  • Cash only
  • I was told by our friends that are regulars there, that sometimes they tell you burgers are not available… even though it is something they are known for. We are thinking they do this to try and move other menu items, but it’s still kinda strange.

Burgers are hard to get on fish fry Fridays. Burgers are good and their pepperjack cheese is not what you would expect. Instead it’s melted cheese with a copious amount of HOT red pepper flakes. Hot. Food is good and pierogi are top notch!

I appreciate the honesty, and I would really like to know what upset you in your experience, as I am an employee of Aroma.

Did you attend our Main St or Bryant St location? We take our service and food quality very seriously and would appreciate more detailed input of what you didn’t like about your experience.

To not clutter the thread, feel free to PM me. It will be passed on to management to help resolve any future issues.

Did BUCA for lunch on King West today and Bar Isabel on College West for dinner…

Both places are crazy hot right now. Hell, Isabel was RAMMED on a monday night… like standing room only type busy.

Aroma on Bryant still stands as my favorite place in Buffalo.

Food is amazing as long as you can think outside of boxed noodles and red sauce as your definition as Italian. Atmosphere is nice but not stuffy at all.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Honestly, Trattoria never blew me away…my wife and I have been there a couple times, she really loved it, but suprisingly I was not a huge fan…

I hit Bar Isabel a few weeks ago while up in TO for work. It was packed on a Sunday night too. Cool place but not high on my list to return to. Not before checking out many other places first.

i was disappointed with the quality of sluts… there were none… just a bunch of chicks who looked like they have jobs and shit… fuuuuuck that.
