Restaurants that don't suck thread

UBeng, What was the name of the BBQ place you went to in Austin?

I don’t think most people look at other people while they’re with company, but the reason I take photos for this thread is because someone should have a good visual on what they’re reading about to draw them in.

We have been -_-

Yes there are

I think Don posted something about BBQ in Kansas a long time ago, or somewhere he went for a car, I enjoyed the post, but it’s up to you guys if you want to keep it local. There are several members on here who do quite a bit of traveling, and well known cities shouldn’t be an issue. If anyone had any recommendations in diff. cities I’d love to know about them. I mean I guess we can leave this thread to SIQQQQQQ Buffalo where there’s so much fun stuff for young people to do -_-

I don’t remember but I’ll skim through my credit statement for the name, it was pretty out of the ordinary thouhg, it was part of a gas station.

No pics cause it wasn’t worth it, but I went to Sakura earlier for my bro’s bday party, great sushi, and at moderate expense as well. Started off with seaweed salad which was spot on, much better than lettuce IMO, then miso soup which tasted as it should, and ended up having their spicy tuna, yellowtail, and cali rolls. All that came to 17$, can’t beat it with a stick, and I was surprisingly full.

Reading a menu tonight that included “drunken clam” and “bleu insider”. I am so immature.

What strip club menu was that?

I knew someone would say that. Lol

Medici house. Use to be Tantalus.

Went to The Lodge twice… first time my steak was overcooked, second time the soft shell crab sandwich was just blah. I’ll def go back for drinks but id rather eat lunch at the Bing for half the price.

… that DON’T suck thread.

Went to Dinosaur BBQ for first time yesterday in Rochester, I believe the original is in Syracuse? Anyways, sub par BBQ. I had the tres hombre plate which I don’t feel like uploading, but my brisket was dry ribs were very tough, but pulled pork was okay. All for 19$. Came with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. Best thing on plate was the fat on the brisket that I trimmed off and ate alone because that was juicy, followed by mashed potatoes.

Overall 6/10, I’ve had better BBQ at Famous Daves for less money with more food. I’ve had a world of a difference of BBQ down south and out west. I’m willing to give DBBQ another chance one day, but if based on yesterday’s meal I would never go back. Next time I go is when the one in Buffalo finally opens.

Thumbs down NYSpeed

Went to Tappo for a Xmas party a few weeks ago. Prices were great and the food was awesome. Had a few IPAs as well.

been here twice now http://brasaniagara.com
ribeye, rump,and lamb are amazing!

Went to Titan in Hamburg, it was good but I would rather go to Ricks in East Aurora. I really don’t understand why anyone would open a restaurant in WNY when there is waaaaay too much competition. Places like Ricks are so good you would need to be half the price to get me in your restaurant.

My 2 cents.

I have not enjoyed my last 2 meals at Ricks in the least…that Reds in EA is good for a burger and shake…little pricey.

The new wood fire pizza place in Lancaster is great…Brick 99 or something its called on Aurora St in the old Simmes…Excellent!

I think that’s part of what makes food in Buffalo great. You NEED to be top notch in your niche to be successful or people aren’t going to go.

That is the first time I have heard that about Rick’s. I figured it would happen eventually.
What was bad?

.

I had a steak that was very undercooked and took FOREVER to come out and I also had a fish fry that was literally mush. My parents used to go almost weekly and have moved on as well after some lesser experiences.

Mushy fish and undercooked steak hmmm. Maybe understaffed.(?)

That or super cheap

Its possible, but I didnt pay the understaffed price for the meal. You of course understand that one poor experience, especially with all of the options available makes it difficult to find the desire to give it another try.

JD’s BBQ on Ridge: walked out after 20 minutes of not being acknowledged after being seated… Fresh coat of paint on Ponderosa with dollar store stupid fucking signs on the wall. Will not be returning ever. Emailed ownership & got a personal apology from their personal email. First impressions are a bitch, train your staff & hire competent people.

Walked out & on a whim went to:

Curly’s on Ridge 9.5/10. Formidable gluten free options for almost all entrees (for the wife). My rib eye was prepared incredibly well. Wife’s pasta tasted like real pasta, not shit which was very welcome. Only grip was non-alcoholic beverage ware was served in plastic. I’m just don’t drink, I’m not eleven years old. Salads were pre-fabbed which is fine but again on cheap plastic plates. Tad pricy at $20-35 per entree for the area, but very satisfied with the dining experience, staff & meal overall.
