Since the infamous movie Fast and The Furious made its debut, the concentration of import cars with big wings, ugly paint jobs and 17 sec 1/4 mile times has increased dramatically. We have all been affected by it and if we dont do something soon it will, in short time, take over the world. Heres how you can help:
First I will show you how to keep rice out of your life and the lifes if your loved ones. Then I will give you examples of how to act when confronted with rice.
Driving an import car does not automatically make you a “ricer”. However there is a fine line between import rice and domestic rice. The biggest misconception of rice is that it can be decided based on the vehicle itself. This is not true due to the fact that any car can be made fast. It is what you decide to do to a car that makes it rice. Heres how to stay free of rice.
The following rules apply to all cars. Please keep your car free from the following: Neon lights, aftermarket tail lights, fake HID and/or colored headlight bulbs, brightly colored windshield wipers (this includes “snake eyes”), the single windshield wiper conversion, and most importantly please do not under any cirumstances spray paint and part of your car. This includes spray painting the hood black. Do it yourself tint. Any stickers you may have purchased at any local parts store. Lowering your vehicle more than 2 inches on stock struts, you cant hide this as you will be seen bouncing a half a mile after you hit a bump. Do not under any circumstances rev your motor at cars that you know will beat you. Exhaust canisters are also not allowed if the rest of your exhaust system is factory stock. Fake hood scoops.
-You are not allowed to say you won a race if the other car was not if fact, racing.
If you drive a FWD car please keep it free from any of the following: Staggerd Rims, Aftermarket Spoilers, and/or full body aero kits. You also may not consider yourself a “drifter”. Drifting can not be done with a FWD vehicle contrary to public belief.
If you have the following combination of parts: Carbon fiber hood/trunk and a stereo system.
Under no circumstances may you call your car fast if it does not have a 1/4 of at least 14 seconds. If you have not yet raced the 1/4 mile, you may not think that your car has a 14 sec capability, unless your car has a factory spec 1/4 mile of 14 sec.
The following are things you can do when confronted by a ricer:
DO NOT race a rice car. If you proceed to race you will encourage them to think their car is fast and they will tell their friends lies about how they caught up in the end, when you in fact had let off the gas a few hundred feet ago.
DO NOT talk to a ricer at a car meet. Your social status will decline rapidly and sickness or depression can follow.
DO NOT attend ricer meets, shows, or events. You will be exposed to rice on a very high level. The events/shows/meets will most likely include, sound competitions to test stereo systems, hydrolic bounce off’s, ugly girl bikini contests, trophy categories such as, Best Body Kit, Best Sound System, and race events that do not in fact include cars.
This is just the start of the list! What I could come up with. Please post anything that I may have missed and post your RICE stories!
“sound competitions to test stereo systems”
Nope, there two different sound competitions and I just don’t want you to mix em up. There is sound competitions that are included in other shows and all they look at loud and bling or how many screens you got. But then there is IASCA (worldwide), SLAP (EastCoast) where there is judges that judge your car. In SQ class (the class that I was in). Judge looks for install, has to be perfectly done or you loose points (unprotected wires, hanging wires, no sub grill, badly mounted amps), then there is sound judge that gets into your car pops in sound quality CD and listens to couple of tracks to determine the stage (if the music comes from perfect location, left, middle, right, height, width) if any of this is off you loose points and believe me its a bitch to get it right (to do that you need time alignment and special placement of speakers, every car is different so every car needs custom kick panel to be made and perfect speaker location, angle). Then there a bunch of shit with mid-bass and bass (if its too boomy you loose points).
Alex that’s all great an all, but music is not the essence of the car, just like somebody could get into the detail of how body kits are supposed to be installed perfectly and its not easy and you have to be different, it dosn’t change the fact.
Cars are made to move, anything else and you’re straying off track. Race or go home
You don’t understand, speed and acceleration is not everything in cars. There are people that don’t give a shit and rather spend their money and really good sound insulation (making car heavier buy quieter) so that you can enjoy your music while you are getting from point A to point B. It would be rice though to put 4 12" subs/2amps and try to race somebody.
Factory negative camber is another thing. If you tune your car to have negative camber its OK (ex: Drifting). But if its a daily civic that was designed from factory to have -1/1 caber its another story.
wait vlad, let me correct myself… I must be a Super Mega Ricer, because of my massive negative camber… a regular ricer would have -1 to -2 degrees… my bad… I had to clarify myself.
No camber up front and -1/-2 in the rear = understeer. My civic from factory has 0 camber in the front, which will change as soon as my new suspension settles a bit more, and I have it aligned the way I want it.
