People keep telling me they’re a POS and not worth my time, but I think any car can be made reliable if you do the right things to it, so I want to know what they are.

Depends on the road, conditions etc…
I drive all three, (the AWD is the wife’s) they each work better in some places than others…

The key to AWD is staying on the power, if you’re off power then it will understeer like a FWD car, it would have the handling of a pregnant wife. Your front wheels are split between braking (engine braking) and turning and the result is you do both poorly…

This happened to me the other day when i was driving with my wife, the road was in poor condition, the STi started to understeer because I was trying to take it easy and went off throttle when I hit some rough snow, when it started to look like my wife and I might leave the road I just gunned the throttle and swung myself back into the line I really wanted. The throttle acts like a magic understeer to oversteer switch.
There are trade offs though, the weight and the AWD means I can’t turn into corners as fast but the power being split between all 4 wheels means I can apply throttle immediately after the apex. Also when it comes to fun in the snow you can have a blast in the corners but on the straights you can’t really just slide around like the RWD cars because as soon as you break traction you’ve lost it everywhere not just the rear so while you can have incredibly controlled turns it’s harder to pull off that straight line dori dori stuff much to my wife’s disappointment.
The center differential makes a HUGE difference in the way an AWD car handles, roast and I swapped cars/wives (he has a WRX) and it was a lot harder to get into a slide in the snow than the STi was because it’s center diff is just a VLSD so it can’t instantly lock like the DCCD in the STi.

Ya even on my legacy there is a center Locking VLSD and it can make her understeer at first before the back wants to come around.
Still I would take the AWD any day of the week over the RWD.

in my own experience (actually my friends) them dsm’s are pretty damn bullet proof i have 2 friends with dsm’s around 320-350 whp and they beat the shit outta their cars everytime they drive it and they have around 200 000k on them and it hasn’t given them any problems so far on stock internals. but i guess that is one of those cases where they got them freak motors.
and boba i wouldn’t be talkin shit about his dsm considering the fact that it probably costed more than your 240 and plus the fact that its just a daily driver imo thats a pretty good daily.

It is true… these cars are shit load of fun. and they can be reliable if you do the maintence for them.
But solarian you will definitly love the talon once your putitng down 300ish hp for sure.
there kinda like a High maintence GF… there always Up for a good ride every now and then. but like being told how much you love them before bed time lol…
Yeah I never understood why people beefed about DSMs. Oh my tranny is gone, it blew a turbo, T-belt snapped = DSMs are gay…well, idiot the car is anywhere from 10-18years old, seen a lot of owners. Been beaten to hell and back, has 100,000s of km, you boost it and rip on it and finally parts let go.

Edit: There’s two cars off the top of my head that can be considered real race cars from the factory, the F360 Challenge Stradale and Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The rest are pretty much cars for people with too much money that want to look baller.
