I have an 04 Mazda rx8 with a direct bolt on greddy turbo kit running the greddy emange unit for my computer. I have all lines tightened but for some reason my car will not start it is just cranking an that’s it. Any suggestions why it’s not starting. Is it flooded or anything else. I smell fuel when I’m
cranking it also. I unplugged the emanage to just try to get it going but thT still won’t work. Need help!!
Are you sure the emanage is correctly wired? Do you have the ignition and injection harnesses?
Check for spark and fuel first. If you’re not getting a spark then diagnose your ignition system. You say you smell fuel so I’m guessing that is fine.
need more info too broad
I got all new spark plugs an I don’t have the ignition an injection harness it came woth the emanage that plugs directly into the stock computer an it came with the boost sensor harness that’s it. I’m gonna try to post pics of my set up so u can chk to make sure all my wiring an lines are run correctly. I took the emange off an just put the stock computer back together to see if it would start an still it’s just cranking.
Ok that doesn’t mean you have spark. you need to check to see if you have spark at the plugs
By 4 o’clock I’ll hve all my pics up for u too see
Well, it sounds like you’re fairly incompetent, so it’s a good thing they gave you a plug an play harness.
You probably just forgot to plug something in, like the crank angle sensor or something.
Ok imma
chk for spark an imma chk my coil packs. Would push starting it help or no.

not if it has no spark
“imma” gonna go ahead and say you probably shouldn’t have done this install…
Get a timing light and clamp it onto a spark plug lead… see if you get spark…
you KNOW you are getting air…
And you smell fuel…
Rotary’s are NOTORIOUS for flooding…
let it sit for a day and try again…
also make sure your fuel pump is turning on, and your fuel pressure is correct… you can also get a mechanics stethoscope and see if the injectors are firing…
Ok I’ll see what I can do for it… Hopefully it all works out. I mean the first time I cranked it over it’s started but was like bogging out an I tried giving it gas an then it stalled out an Now nothing anymore so hopefully some of theseoptions work.
i have experianced this problem on a friends rx8. i would let it sit.
One would think flooding wouldnt be a issue on a FI car. but Im no rotary person
Nothing that makes sense in the world applies to a rotary.
definitely sounds flooded to me
You could pull the spark plugs and fuel pump fuse then crank it a bunch of times. That might clear it out. Then wipe the plugs off real good and put them back in, along with the fuel pump fuse, and try again.
I had to help my father in law with his 8 after he flooded it before a week long trip… Apparently “letting it sit” isn’t enough and instead you should follow the instructions that can be found online which suggest pulling the fuse to the fuel pump, some other small steps, and cranking it repeatedly (took me a half-hour).
Of course, I would check for spark first. Who knows how the wiring was done or if the Emanage works at all.
K these are good suggestions ya rotary is a pc when it comes to motors I hate it. These flooding issues are redic! But ya imma try it again today it’s been sitting sense like 11 last nite. So I’ll prolly let it wait till later tonight to crank it over. I’ll have pics up later from my install
I would deff find out the way mafdark is talking about. Also would consider pulling th plugs it will give you a good indication of whats up.
This thread makes me want to barf.
Pull the plugs and look at them, are they covered in gas?
Make sure the plugs get spark.
If covered in gas, try to cycle the engine with the fuel pump off and the plugs removed.
If no spark, check your wiring.
Go from there.
