You may have. would have been around 1:15. Picking up my car from Goodyear after getting it inspected.
Thought so, I was in the white Tiguan.
Not sure to be honest. I was looking for people crossing the road so I didn’t take the turn like an asshole and hit someone. I’ve had a few times I’ve gone to turn onto Main and had people crossing the road.
You usually in the area? I work down the street by Harris Hill, so I’m always around at about 1pm.
Next on the list to do, hopefully today. Not sure how great this stuff works, just have looked into a bunch of posts on other forums. Anyone know how good this gets into the metal to clean it?
It may work well. I usually use it after something is decently clean. I used it for the lips on my wheels because they were polished. You could try a degreaser first and then that
Hey dudes… lets say an ap1 and ap2 are around the same price point and cleanliness… what do you recommend?
:stupidquestioneveryoneasks:
AP2 if you want a tad bit more torque, also the fact they are still making AP2 blocks if that means anything. The AP1 is 10 years old now and if I remember correctly, they can stop producing parts after 10 years.
Someone correct me please if that is false.

I was planning to wash extensively first.
I know they stopped production on ap1 engine. I bought parts for my 01 as recently as a month ago.
Personally if I were considering one I would get an 02 or newer for ap1. They have glass window, leather center console, updated oil banjo bolts
So 02-03 ap1… or if you had the choice still look ap2?
02 did have glass back? I thought it was 02 was the start to tweeters and center, then the 03 was the first with the glass back.
Edit: searched… I was mistaken.

Maxwell, if you aren’t interested in getting rims off the get go… ap2. They come with 17s that I feel would be better planted to the ground than the stock ap1 rims. When I got the car, I order rims almost immediately because I didn’t want to deal with the hopping it did when you hit a bump doing a semi fast turn. It was probably the best investment for the car to keep it planted to the ground. ap1 stock is 6" wide front, 6.5" wide back. I now have 8" front and back.
i would still look for ap2 if you’re searching. some people want a TON of money for their cars. how many miles are you looking for as a maximum? I wouldn’t spend over 11k on an 02-03 ap1 or over 15k on an 04-05 ap2 (im just leaving out 06 + because the price goes up as it’s newer and ap1/ap2 is no longer comparable at that point.
I’ve never driven an AP2, but i believe ap1 trans has shorter transmission gearing, and a longer rear end gear. ap2 has a shorter rear end gear and longer transmission gear. due to this power/tq difference isn’t really THAT noticeable as the gearing helps in ap1. i think the gas mileage is roughly the same.
They say the AP1 is much more raw of a car than the AP2. i prefer the AP2 interior to the AP1, but I like the ap1 seats more. I like the AP2 front more than the AP1, but the rear AP1 more than the AP2. I would have a tough time buying one if i were looking again and would probably leave my decision up to it being a really good deal or not.
As far as what to look for, normal car things really…
see if the TCT is noisy; This might only be an AP1 thing but if it has the updated TOB it shouldn’t be noisey. it may be noisey if it is the original, or if it has an aftermarket clutch. you cant really check this til after you buy probably but Retorque the rear axle nuts to the updated torque specs, and I would change the rear diff fluid , trans fluid and oil change following purchase.
Guys are getting $18k for an 03 with 25k miles on it. Just a heads up. Not everyone is, but locally I know of 2 that have sold for close to that. Cheapest price to purchase these cars is slowly increasing with less around to get your hands on.
i still want one of these goddamn cars.
Get your hands on one before the price goes up higher.
Did some quick maintenance on the car this past week and some cleaning. Also went 4 of us camping in 2 sports cars. Turned out to be a great cruise and camp. 20a was the route taken to get to Cayuga lake state park, then a cruise down to Buttermilk in Ithaca
This was the car during and after the cleaning process of the exhaust.
Buy my car?
Price? Mods? Mileage?
wonder what a first yr model with 30k would pull…if it was for sale
From a dealer probably 17-18k. Private I wouldn’t really expect more than 12-13k max and it would have to be completely bone stock. This is all over book value , so realistically its whatever someone wants to pay at this point for these cars.
LOL Based off KBB your car is worth $23k which well… good luck.
Based on NADA the car is worth $12.3k.

Personally, finding this car with that low of mileage on an AP1 engine… You can probably get about 16-17k with that mileage. I’m sure you wouldn’t have that hard of a time if you had someone interested. These cars sell themselves when they do. That low of mileage on a vehicle like this will be a good money fetcher in the future.
