Well, it’s not like we didn’t see shit like this coming. Looks like the Sabres are for sale, and there is already someone interested in buying them. There is something in the current contract that will keep them here for a few years, regardless of who buys them, but this still sucks balls. I hope whoever does acquire them, keeps them here.
There’s a mystery man interested in buying the Buffalo Sabres, and Western New York Hockey Magazine’s Jim Kelley tells our sister station WBEN that the team is definitely up for sale.
“We’ve been actively pursuing this story for about a month now, and it has several facets to it, but one is that the Sabres are for sale,” Kelley said.
If they do in fact leave, this will probably be part of a series of events that drags Buffalo even farther down, driving even more people into leaving this city. Which seems hard from this point. Why does Erie county have to suck so fucking bad?
true, however the good thing is that we’ll probably (hopefully) deal with the recession better than most of the country. It’s only been happening around here since most of us were born

BUFFALO, NY (December 8, 2008) — Statement from Buffalo Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn on the Sabres being for sale:
“We are not in negotiations to sell the team and as we have stated in the past, we will never entertain discussions to move the team out of Buffalo, NY.”
Although, if that was taken from a company email, I wouldn’t discount it either. If they were talking about selling/moving the team, I don’t think you’d want your employees to know about it until the deal is set in stone
You don’t understand Larry…Look at all the time effort he involves in building up Buffalos waterfront…that is the last thing he would want would be the move the Sabres or even open up the opportunity.
Honestly, I’m glad. Golisano isn’t willing to spend to the cap and you’re not going to win trying to operate on a budget millions under the rest of the league. We’re $7.3 million under the cap right now.
Hopefully we get an owner who’s more interested in winning a cup than in making money by picking up a team in bankruptcy and flipping it a few years later.
RIM is not in a position to buy the sabres… they are hurting bad…
that being said… i dont buy this for a second… the sabres have been a very good investment for tom… and the NHL will never let them leave buffalo… we are hockeytown v2.0
