So… today I rushed to the MTO after work to finally get all my registration bullshit done. I got to the MTO JUST before it closed like maybe 10 minutes to spare. I get the counter, and guess what those LOVELY people that work there had to say? Your car is from 1989? It’s 21 years old… you have to get it APPRAISED… Are you KIDDING me? Where the hell am I gonna get my car appraised? How am I supposed to get it there with no plates/registration to BE APPRAISED?!? TOW?!.. So now with the new purchase of a car… the government expects me to pay for emissions, safety, an appraisal… a TOW to all these places, plate registration/validation sticker, insurance and tax on the car?
Go to a different one to get it registered you don’t have to get it appraised unless you are fighting how much you paid for it. The situation just seems really off.
They said because its over 20 years (21 years old… :@) old it classifies as a ‘classic’… I have to get it appraised… anyone know a cheap ass fuckin place for this to get done?
after 20 years the MTO doesnt retain the redbook values so they make you get an appraisal. it’s stupid. 3-4 years ago i paid tax on $200 declared value because that was my purchase price and there was no redbook value in their system.
now if theres no redbook value, they make you get an appraisal instead
they say that it is a classic but you still have to e test it should have made it to 89 but what evedr
