As it happens, I found a deal on a 2001 Audi S4 I couldn’t refuse… So…i’m pretty much going to sell my 240…
So here’s the thing - when I bought the S4, I moved my 240’s plates to this car and had the ownership/insurance etc updated and am driving it now. My 240 remains insured at the moment, but plateless.
However, if i’m selling the 240, i’d imagine the buyer would want some form of a test drive…so how does that work? Did I make a boo-boo moving the plates, do I now need to cert/emiss the car to re-plate it…or can some form of temp plates be had for a test drive?
Looking to do everything legally…(it passed emissions last time and the safety shouldn’t be an issue, but might sell as is for simplicity, not sure)
Osad, yeah i’m really going to miss it too! The S4 IS awesome though… Potential buyers, post your resumes lol.
FUNGC, yeah the car has every emissions component present and operating except for that good ol’ AIV box. Although actually I disconnected the O2 sensor, I find it drives a little better under cruising conditions…but EGR/cat/charcoal canister etc is all there.
spd-dmn, it’s fit (just removed the plates - nothing else, idle the car daily) - but do I need to prove it by actually getting a safety/e-test before getting the 10-day permit for a potential buyer to test drive it?
The 10-day is meant to provide the owner with the ability to drive the car to get it fixed/ certified before plating. So you’re fine. Just go to the MTO and say I would like a 10-day trip permit. You need proof of ownership, proof of insurance, and $15.
Tempting, but I really only need - and want - one car right now, wouldn’t want to have it sitting around so much. I only really enjoy a track day or two each year myself anyway.
Currently i’m not sure what i’ll be asking, I have to do a little more looking over my mods, it’s condition and what not, and i’ll try to come up with a fair price.
I’m currently guessing it’ll be somewhere in the $6500-7500 range or so, but i’ll update. Opinions are welcome but obviously i’ll be setting the final price.
Definitely worth that and maybe even more. The car is EXTREMELY clean and all modifications are very well executed. The KA is very healthy, and pulls DAMN hard for only 5psi!
You can’t have a nice car and an S13, you’d need like… a truck as well. Reasoning is this, you can drive the S13 on the track, but if you have a much better car, you’d never want to drive the S13 on the street. So paying insurance for it is pretty pointless, so it becomes a track only car. And now you need a tow vehicle. It only works if you can afford the tow vehicle, or if your “nice” car is pretty weaksauce and you actually feel like driving the S13 every once in awhile.
