ya know what fuck it here goes , remember a while back when travis when blowin all the mods and they were bannin us left and right when we picked on him and shit , what forum did 75% of us run to and start there . if i remeber right it was r-speed , shit after that night i dont think i have ever seen r-speed that busy again . so long story short our only problem with r-speed is what ??? obv not a lot to stay away from it , singh ya know your my favorite hindu i mean who else could wear this

I want to get involved in the chicken squabble. I want to make a few point myself I have know Mike, Cossey, Vlad and a few others since the APG days since my whore of an Asian ex-Girlfriend was out at parties without me banging other dudes cause I had a pretty serious job and got up at 5am everyday to drive all over gods creation. But anyway I want to make some serious points.
1). I feel that Shift518 was the reborn APG forum and those who remember APG remember the hilarity and drama and silliness that went on there. I cant remember anything ever being serious there. Everyone was a comedian
2). R-speed while having is own comedy was always really serious. Not a bad thing cause you could always go there to get real answer quickly without 10pages of child porn and fluff, but you would also be more likely to get horribly flamed by some enigineer for something that was totally irrelevantto anything you were currently doing.
Because of this shift and rspeed created almost two different worlds. There was a huge seperation for a lot of people between the world of shift518 and Rspeed. The seperation and animosity got dragged out over a few things. Shift518 has always been about fun and friendship first and cars second where Rspeed was an enthusiasts forum. It was a car forum first with relationships second and then it went to a pay site and created and even bigger gap between the free and free willed shift to the pay for use more serious Rspeed.
Theres really nothing wrong with either forum its just a preference for the users out there as to what expirience they want. Mike does business one way and shift is run a completely opposite way. I do not have any issue with Mike hosting shift, but I do completely understand where singh is coming from. Mike although he is a great guy is like shifts mortal enemy it would be like the United states asking Fiedel Castro to host the presidential family in his Cuban strong hold.
We are all older and more mature and all cool dudes here but really maybe we should keep a good distance between anything shift and Rspeed. A little competition and seperation is healthy. It keeps things alive

How much bandwidth is used per month on average? I don’t know how you could possibly be spending anywhere close to $180/month… I used to run a site with unlimited bandwidth and it was only $25/month…
Edit: I actually would be more interested to know what kind of server load… it can’t be THAT bad, can it? Do we have that many trolls? Do you REALLY need VPS? I would think that a site like this would be more than capable running off a shared solution…
A simple PM,email or the old fashion way… phone call, would suffice.
While i’m not on anyones side here, i still don’t see a problem with mike hosting it.
If its that big a deal, find someone else. move on.

Im not a member on RSpeed or whatever it is, but I can see where Singh and everyone else involved is coming from. Everyones argument has valid, concrete, justifiable statements.
As an Admin/co-founder of a photography forum, I know the job isnt easy first hand. We had to switch hosts within the first year of being up due to the same issue of cost, speed, and downtime. It is just server space, so who knows…maybe Vlad will decide to change hosts after the smoke clears in a few months. Maybe more space is needed for the future of Shift and what we dont know is being discussed behind the scenes.
I highly doubt that anything shady will go down, if it does someones business reputation is on the line being that other companies are hosted through the same company/host. Lots of other forums are hosted in similar ways.
I think the only time I might be worried is if Shift comes up for sale and gets purchased by another local forum owner, then things would probably change.

It just seems like there are quite a few people out there holding a grudge, grow up, if everyone is older and more mature, explain why this thread even exists??? Bottom line it really shouldn’t matter who hosts the site and this should have been kept between Vlad, Singh and Mike. Whats funny is if Singh didn’t start this whole ordeal and Mike hosted the site without anyone knowing, I would guarantee the majority of this site would have never even noticed but nows its a big deal because people wanna cry about it.
This. This is what it should all come down. You guys know better than anyone else that if something were to happen, I’d be scrutinized all over the place. I have several business reputations to uphold here.

lol nah its not a bad thing at all ! thats why when I switch hosts the cost will be low for me and zero for vlad, and since its low for me it means “higher reliability” too

one of the reasons why I said mike hosting shift wasnt a good idea was because of conflict of interest… so if there is none then him hosting shift would hardly be an issue.

I agree, I’d also very much like to see Singh stay with the site. It really isn’t any of my (read: our) business, but I think he does a great job and it would be a shame to lose him.
