Shreks boosted GSR Build

Looks good. You are quick to get things done  on that

++

is that where the 5gal fuel cell for the C16 is going??? :burnout:

Yea thats next, Wish there was an easy way to run a duel fuel system…

Ok…Why didnt anyone speak up? This dont work…lol…oil press shot to 100 psi then gave! oil clean up time

Shreks back together and running good! I re registered it, got another 10 day inspection sticker and dropped it off at a local shop. Guy calls and says I need a driver side wheel bearing and a passenger side upper ball joint. Im thinking the stock upper a arm is a one peace and is going to cost me 140 bucks so maybe now is a good time to up grade to a Skunk2 camber kit!

Not sure why the wheel bearing went so fast? Guess they get beat on pretty good

Need to get to the dyno, turn the boost up and run my 11!

Did u change ur F bearings this past winter? Maybe it was just time for them to shit the bed

I was jk on the fuel cell lol

i need a camber kit real bad… :frowning:

i have the skunk2 camber kit very nice!

So ever since I got the new turbo installed I have been getting more then normal smoke from the exhaust. At first I thought this was just left over oil burning off from my last turbo failure and thought it would clear out over time. Well its been a week and I haven’t driven the car a whole lot but the smoke doesn’t seem to be getting any better and I did take it to the high way and let it open up and breath a little. I plan on compression testing the engine sometime this week to narrow down the possibilities. Piston rings, valve seals, turbo seal…where else could oil be coming from?

Any other suggestions? I cant believe I could have a turbo seal problem out of the box but it dose seam its gotten worse since the new turbo went in.

If its coming out of the exhaust, All i can think of is rings, valve seals, turbo seal, and BOV.

Hell Joe 91mr2 had oil going through his intake from the BOV lol

is it blue or black smoke … just asking

but you may have a diff issue on you hands…valve seals

and yes the seals could be bad out of the box… does not happen often but could happen

BOV? What??

Its blue ish… Yea Id rather it be valve seals then pistion rings… I have started rebuilding my other head so that could go on over winter! But I will wait to see if the compr. test reveals otherwise

take turbo off and cap lines and run a jerryrigged flex pipe contraption from the manifold to the downpipe and go for a drive. doesnt have to be pretty. doesnt have to seal all that well. can be made of cheap sheetmetal. if the smoking stops and the compressor housing was dry, then its probably the turbo exhaust side seal.

full ball bearing? did you put the proper restrictors in for a GT series? oil pressure at turbo?

Brian

Wow that sounds like a whole weekend project, but it would help eliminate the turbo. What if I take off the test pipe and let the car sit idling and see if oil drips out?

It’s a GT BB and I have a oil restrictor yes! I don’t know the pressure at the turbo?

More WTF’s…
I took the car out after work and did a few healthy pulls between exits. Everything seed fine and I always check all my gauges and am always listening to the engine. Well I was just about to floor it one last time when the car started running like crap. The throttle wasn’t responding and it seemed as if it was skipping or not firing on all cylinders? I got it to a parking lot where I could pop the hood and I had know idea what I was going to find. Well the only thing was the spark plug wires on the distributor. I was able to push them on more and two of them popped in like they weren’t seated? Well that didn’t fix the problem, I limped home and there it sites. One side note the tach wasn’t acting right but neither was the car??

I don’t think its air or fuel so im going to try changing the ignition back to stock, like I was told to do back on page 2 or so!

i was just going to say sounds like an ignition issue. GL hope you can figure out the problem

hey do you still have all the stcok stuff… i can swing out if you need to try some to see if its the problem… it sounds like a dizzy problem

boosted hondas are fun

yeah it will take some time but you wont totally know if its the turbo or not without removing it from the system.

other things are making sure the drainback is downhill the entire way and above the oil level in the pan but that looks ok from what i can see from the pics but that last fitting doesnt look totally downhill though.

my turbo smokes a little and has been for years but i know what my problem is… the drainback is a little too restrictive where it meets the pan (TBI dodge block doesnt have the drainback tube installed in the block like the stock turbo blocks) and i have a high volume melling pump which jacks the pressure up considerably. i put a gauge on it before the turbo and it was like 70psi at cold idle which is way too high for a T3 so I intalled a filter before the gauge which knocked the pressure down a little but i still need to work on the drainback and maybe install a restrictor.

does it immediately start smoking upon startup? is there any oil in the compressor outlet/piping?

Brian

I went to change out the distributor cap and when I pulled it off I found all the wires disconnected. I don’t even see how I drove this home. I guess the connections vibrated apart or the wires got snagged on the rotor. Well plugged them back in and ITS PISSED now…lol! Runs good and my tack works again, go figure right.

I still want to compression test the engine b/c I want to still get on the dyno this year.

that fixed the smoking too?

I didn’t really look to see but I think it did help. Who knows the timing could have been off right?

Tach signal comes from the dizzy, glad its running better now
