Sirius Sporster 5 Radio issues: Low volume

The wireless (built-in) adapter is garbage. Soon after sat. radio came out, the FCC made them cut down the strength of their fm modulators because people in other cars were getting the signals and it was causing issues. Since then the wireless transmitters have been 100% useless. Hook up the wired FM modulator that you posted up along with the antenna adapters (elliot said he might have some extras. if not just get cheap ones from walmart or something). As soon as you do that, the sound will be 100x better. I can’t tell you how many people who refused the wired fm modulator when they bought sat. radio from us and within a few days came back to get it installed. It is a HUGE difference in sound level and quality.

The adapter you just posted looks pretty awesome. Looks like it uses the AUX input which will give you 100% digital sound quality and not have to worry about the antenna at all. And since most VW cig. plugs are constant power, its nice that is takes power off the radio to shut it down with the car. That is your best option if you feel like spending the extra dough.

Looks like you need these:

Come on man, it’s not really digital :Idiots

Anyway, I would go with the $99 aux input add-on you posted.

I know Kenny, just not sure how to proceed.

How does this wire up exactly:

Does this require use of the antenna still?

These two in conjuction with the wired FM modulator correct. This ioffer site seems bootleg as hell.

Here’s another:

Mind bottled.

It plugs into the back of the stock head unit, you will switch to AUX or something like that to play your satellite radio through it. It acts the same way as your JVC’s AUX input.

You would be surprised to see the mark up on a simple antenna cable.

Like the other one you posted. This direct connection would give the best sound quality.

I do not have AUX on the stock head unit…

I do appreciate all the help.

Well than you switch to CD Changer, it’s an add-on.

With the aux input, it would be a “digital” input. Meaning that its a direct input with the same audio quality as the any other aspect of the radio.

If you do not have an Aux option on the radio, it would normally use the CD changer option. If you have a multi-disk changer, it will normally use up one of the spaces (ie. disk 6 on a 6 disk changer).

OK but the signal itself is 100% analog still.

Anyway back to the topic on hand.

Yes.

I dont have a changer…

snap a picture of the radio. I find it very odd that there is no aux or changer option. Not saying there really isn’t, but it just seems weird.

will do!

Is Howard Stern included in that $12/mo?

I just got my xm for $6.48/mo for a year. I’m not sure how much it was to add “the best of sirus” that includes stern and a few other channels

:facepalm

I thought you knew more about this stuff man

What?

The car didn’t come with the CD changer like some Jettas do. I’m not a car audio guy especially when it comes to European shit.
