in this image right here, the part that the slave connects into, is this the shift fork? how much play should be in this? i can’t move it by hand but with the car running in neutral, you can see it shaking back and forth. not much, but enough to be noticeable…normal?
i can probably get a video later on
i’m tryin to figure out why in the mornings and when the car is cold i have no pedal pressure at all, but as soon as i drive like 5 miles or so, the pedal is fine and then is fine for the rest of the day. and when i say no pedal pressure i mean i cant even get it into gear without a lot of effort
well i took it to a tranny place and acura and both said the same thing. the little pin holding the fork is probably worn out, and the terrible creakin noise im hearing is the throwought bearing gone bad. not wat i wanted to hear… oh and they both said that the CMS is shot, it lost pressure as they were driving it
yes it should be able to move. It isn’t actually bolted in, it just sits on a ball-shaped pivot with the slave piston on one end and the throwout bearing on the other
Have you bled the slave? Sounds like you could just have air in the line. If the creak is coming from the pedal box area it may just need lubricated, a throwout bearing will make a pretty distinctive sound if it’s bad when you let the clutch out in neutral, if you push in the clutch and the sound goes away or changes you have a bad TO bearing.
or a bad input shaft bearing…if your looking for a quick cheap fix go to your local advance auto and ask them to order you a slave and master cylinder from IPD I have them on my teg and they are dirt cheap and still holding my beatings. You can change both of them in like an hour or less just make sure to readjust your clutch pedal within thresholds.
yeah from what you’re dscribin the throw out bearing is bad. and ive bled the slave at least 10 times since ive installed them. they’re fine for a while and then somehow air gets in the line. i bought a new slave and master, and im just goin to defect out the old ones(benefits of working for advance)
well since i got school durin the week etc… i just dropped my car off at a tranny shop(a corporate one) because i dont have time to drop the tranny, replace parts etc… so i get the car back, the price was right, the work was not. the car was worse than before i dropped it off. after grinding every gear to get home(never did that before) i open up the hood. yup, theres the new CMS, and yup there is brake fluid everwhere. when they switched them out and the fluid spilled they just left it there. greasy hand marks all over the cars exterior(least of my worries). there was a good 4 inches of free play in the pedal. they put the new CMS in, but didnt adjust it at all. the lock bolts were all loose. took me 15-20 min to adjust myself, but why the hell couldn’t they do it themselves? so after i finally get the car all in workin order i take it for another test drive. holy shit, what is this terrible grindin noise i hear from the front? i get back home, pull off the wheels and both dust shields on either side are bent and ripped and broken. both bent right into the rotors. WTF? so i pull them out most of the waY(they will have to be removed now cuz they are so badly damaged) and take it for another test drive. more noise… so i get home again, check underneath, and my exhaust is now rattling like crazy. its also new, so it shouldn’t do this. it looks like they forced the exhaust bolts into the cat and now its not sitting properly. WTF? i didnt get to talk to anyone about it becuase i paid for the work, and left the car becuase i had no one to drive me to get it and i cant drive two cars at once. i mean come on now, i know it was a friday towards the end of the day but jesus christ do your fucking job right and dont half ass it… so after payin them to do all this work(install throw out bearing, new pilot bushing, rear main seal, CMS, and CSS) i have to finish and fix what they started…
