Slowest disaster ever?

We have set off probably hundreds of Nukes under water. With megatons of water over the warhead, it will hardly do much. Lots of bubbles.

The scary part is that it makes sence.

I can sell you guys centrifuges if you want.

Crude oil will decompose in ~1 year let it spill out who cars lol.

Don’t worry, the government stepped up it’s involvement yesterday so this will get taken care of. Unfortunately their “involvement” is starting a criminal probe. Yeah, that will help stop the leak and help keep the oil off the beaches.

Look, I’m all for going after BP criminally. Based on the stuff I’ve seen about them knowing there were problems with the safety systems and continuing to drill there are almost certainly grounds for charges DOWN THE ROAD. But for once can we maybe concentrate on FIXING THE DAMN PROBLEM before getting the lawyers involved?

My favorite was the BP executive yesterday talking about their new plan. No joke, he actually said that the likelihood of their most current plan working is even greater than that of the mud process. Seriously? You expect us to actually believe that shill? If it was more likely successful it would’ve been the lead off tactic. Stop lying and just tell us that you don’t have the slightest clue of what you are doing down there and that you are getting your ideas of what to try from a 5 year old with a box of Crayola’s.

:word:

Fix the god damn problem then worry about throwing people in the federal ass pounding prison.

We need one big shamwow.

its so annoying when people say stuff like “the government isnt doing enough to help solve the problem waaahhhhhhhh”

uhh last i checked the govmt are no longer oil people, if good ole GW was still in office i could maybe understand…

when my dad said that, i asked him how, specifically, he wanted the government to help the situation. after a short pause he said something along the lines of “obama should swim down to the bottom and stop it with his head”

good one.

Well I think when most people say they want the government involved they mean assigning people to come in and help fix the problem. Either way it’s a lose-lose situation. If this didn’t happen, and the government got involved in anything going on they would bitch about them being too involved and becoming socialist, yada yada yada.

I do believe they should step in to start lighting a fire under BP’s ass. (No pun intended) Because clearly these people can’t figure shit out for themselves. We should have been hiring people from all over the world to come help with this right when it started. However, I don’t think government involvement should have happened immediately by any means. This is a private company who was supposed to abide by a slew of regulations so it’s normal to assume they have measures to contain issues like this without the government getting more involved. Clearly, that wasn’t the case.

I have definately seen that guy in other :tinfoilhat: videos. He sounds Canadian eh?
Scary theory none the less.

I never said the government should have immediately got involved. About the time BP created that website so anyone could go online and give them suggestions for how to stop the leak… that would be the point where reasonable people can probably agree it’s time to put someone else in charge.

Great example of what I want the government to do. LA has a plan to build a sand berm to protect the critical Mississippi delta wetlands. They can’t do it though because of the mountain of EPA red tape involved with any kind of construction in the delta region. Obama won’t even step in and help LA cut through that red tape to keep the oil out of the wetlands. Bobby Jindal has the support of some die hard Democrats on that one but Obama for what ever reason doesn’t want to be involved beyond lawyers and sound bytes.

 I love getting my “science” from a guy in a t-shirt he converted to a tank top with a pair of scissors and what appears to be a crumpled up tissue from his other web “browsing” he was probably doing just minutes before polishing off that energy drink and flipping on his webcam.

You know this should be bigger than just Government action, it is so bad for the environment, there should be numerous agencies stepping in to shut down the leak! Just sitting back while BP is doing a horrible job trying to fix it is dumb IMO. This can cause irreversible damage to ecosystems and wild life.

I’ve never really liked BP as a company with what I’ve had to deal with them but you have to remember this; a problem of this magnitude hasn’t ever really occurred before. You start with ideas and if they don’t work you try again.

Most people at BP have a lifetime of drilling and oil industry service under their belts, it isn’t a bunch of retards trying to fix this thing.

Also you realize BP has a huge incentive to capping this thing right? MONEY do you have any idea how much money they are loosing right now? Just a little FYI an offshore oil rig losses about 1 million bucks for ever day it is down. If they can cap this thing or even better fix the leak they will make/save so much mullah.

The immediate effects on wildlife can be very severe, but it’s often observed that there are fewer long-term effects than you might expect and affected areas may recover well after about two years.

I don’t want my beaches shitted up or sea turtles dieing but we as humans destroy so much anyways who the fug cares if it is done with an oil spill or via polluting automobiles?

Yes it has. It happened in 1979, and all of the EXACT same things they tried that failed then, have failed when they tried it this time.

I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to say that they are throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks at this point. They spent all of their R&D resources in learning how to drill in more obscure places, that they never put the effort into learning how to deal with a fuckup WHEN (not if) it occurs.

I didn’t particularly mean you, sorry. My point was that no matter what, people will complain about something on both sides.

And yes that’s a great example. It’s amazing that more action isn’t being taken…yet. (I hope) It seems so simple for our end, but I can’t imagine the shit they have to consider before making moves like that. Not that they shouldn’t be making them.

^I am no animal lover but that video…

I would not be able to just stand there and take video of a dying animal. Letting nature take its course is one thing, but watching an animal struggle through something so unnatural is torture.
