Smoking Ban injunction

until April 30, 2007

Injunction Issued In Allegheny Co. Smoking Ban
(KDKA) PITTSBURGH A judge has now issued a temporary injunction against the smoking ban at Allegheny County bars and restaurants.

Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato made the announcement today.

The ban was scheduled to go into effect on January 2, 2007.

Two restaurants sued to stop the enforcement of the ban which was passed this fall by Allegheny County Council.

Our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report that Common Pleas Judge Michael Della Vecchia granted a temporary injunction against the ban until April 30, 2007, when a full hearing will be held.

Onorato stressed that the judge’s order does not apply to the ban in workplaces in the county.

yay

ohwell

So that means it’s put off until April 30th?

Hell yeah.

delaying the inevitable.

smokings gay

I wonder if this going to be like jersey…no smoking in bars resteraunts…everything but Casinos

hopefully.

I hope they stop selling cigarettes all together…

or the next best thing would be, seperate places for smokers…then all the non smokers can look through the glass ( or atleast try to with all the nasty smoke ) and we can think how happy we are breathing. :moon:

seriously though I don’t care if you smoke or not…BUT I do hate smelling like it when I don’t smoke. And I definitley don’t enjoy it when I am eating. So i think that the movement would be good for everyone. You can smoke less which hopefully will save you some $$$ ( and spare your lungs the pain )and I can breathe better and enjoy my food more because your 2nd hand smoke isn’t in my face.

okay now for a group hug--------:grouphug:

This is just a classic case of government wasting our money and shoving useless rules down our throats. If it’s so bad, ban the substance altogether, like drugs no? If it’s not that bad, the gov should not restrict who uses it where. I can’t ride the bikes inside Wal-Mart…because Wal-Mart says so, and they enforce it (believe me). Tobacco use should be the same way, just like I don’t let people smoke in my car or my house.

This whole issue is just a smoke screen (pun not intended) to keep the masses from becoming engaged in the real issues facing us from our increasingly overbearing government, (the farse called “Homeland Security” ever increasing taxes whilst actual services provided continue to decline, the scam/oxy-moron called social security, gun registration laws, useless emissions laws, etc)

The ban itself means nothing, the fact that we are so mesmerized by it, proves that the country is in a state of decline, and will cease to be a World Power within the lifetimes of most of the people on this board.

Enter China…

start building your shack in Montana and amassing the weaponry, brother… :jerkit:

big government, woo woo. thank the republicans for building up the size of the government, and now we commie-pinko liberals get to take the reins.

pretty soon there will be gays adopting babies in churches while being married by Imams smoking pot and tearing up free trade agreements. it’ll be madness.

Ohwell, Still wont stop people going outside to smoke

:asshole

None of that would help solve the real problem. But you don’t even know there is a problem. The government shouldn’t regulate drugs, marriage, sexual preference or trade. But I wouldn’t expect you to actually read the constitution, or any historical document for that matter. Just order your Netflix and a Pizza, and keep getting fatter on your couch like the rest of this country while the 2 party system continues to have it’s way with the citizenry. :gaysex:

Maybe go get a book on Imam…sounds interesting.

I hear there’s somewhere that banned smoking in their own HOME.

I’d have to say that’s a bit invasive, yes?

All your smoking are belong to us.

The government loves sheeple like you who rely on them to care of you, your type are no threat and would be the first to go if something ever happened in this country.

do cigars count as smoking?

1: I don’t give a fuck about the constitution. It was written nearly 230 years ago, when the United States had a population of a little under 4 million, at the height of European imperialism. Read some Alexander Hamilton. With a few exceptions, he knew what was up, even 230 years ago. (But don’t think I’m ignorant of the constitution’s contents; Poli Sci has always been my thing.)

2: The government has a duty to ensure the greatest society possible while infringing as little as possible regarding the rights of the individual. Cocaine should be illegal. Free trade agreements fuck the American worker in the ass, and exploit the foreign worker, so that the bourgeoisie can profit while his “brothers” go unemployed.

3: I don’t have a NetFlix account, I usually eat pizza at the restaurant, and I totally agree about the two party system. The Republicans have at least two factions: You have the absurdist, religious Republicans, who believe in upholding a ridiculous moral standard and ENLARGING the size of government (contrary to their party’s intended aim). Then you have the classic Republicans, whose interests are more served by the libertarian party at this point. As for the Democrats, they’re a fucking train wreck. There is no FDR over here. Fuck, there’s not even a McGovern. These assholes in my party are so worried about political correctness and not saying the wrong thing that all they do is meekly naysay anything the conservatives say, or quietly agree with it.

So yeah, I’d love to see party choices more in line with ideologies. I’d love to have the ability to register for a social democracy party, or Federalist party, or even a Democratic party that is more in line with FDR era Democratic thought.
