As an ex plow jockey I can tell you this. Anyone with a plow / customers is fucked. People are calling them losing their minds and there’s not a damn thing they can do. After a certain point, a plow is virtually useless. Not only is there a lot of snow, there’s a 1-2 jnch layer of slushit at the bottom. I wouldn’t even bother to call / approach a guy with a plow on his truck. Wish I had better news.
That stuff was like plowing wet sand. Even 12" deep was super heavy.

Well it is true, dead people give less uproar. 
Honestly closing the Thruway before the storm would have forced people onto side roads and the same thing could have and did happen.
There isn’t an excuse to not understand the upcoming weather events and at least be somewhat prepared

I think everyone in my neighborhood is waiting for plow guys, seems like it’s me and 2 other house that have our driveways clean. I have been snow blow since 4am yesterday on and off all day.

They were saying that even though they closed the 90, people were taking other avenues like 20 and suffering the same fate. I mean in all fairness, Most people were expecting 2ft, going up against 4+ in some areas is just incredible. Plow drivers were saying it’s basically like plowing a brick wall, you don’t stand a chance.
Wonder how many people will complain they didn’t get the mail or the paper? :rolljerk:
At least on a side road you can go to a gas station or whatever. People went to the Basil dealership to stay warm.

I’m beyond Plows and blowers. I’m gonna shovel. My driveway is 125 feet long. Nice knowing you all.
Just start the snow blower on the slowest forward speed and chain it to something let it go come back out in a couple hours…
You close the 90 because it’s nearly impossible to clear it once cars get stuck. With side roads you can move cars off to the side or easily tow them to the 1000’s of lots that are all around. With limited access highways it’s 10x harder to clear because each car has to get towed out to an exit a mile or more away.
