They could stand to open the thruway between 46 and Exit 50 too. All the back roads between here and there are clear.
The town/city/county doesn’t have the man power to help the amount of people who will have issues…
It’s also BS they have been turning around private plow trucks

He raises a good point about the notification boards. The problem at the toll plaza is all the traffic already on thruway when they decide to close it. There’s a bit of a lag between deciding to close it, and clearing the existing traffic. I’m not sure that there’s a great solution to that problem. Keeping all the trucks to one lane would certainly help with clearing them out after the fact. Maybe they should look into expanding the number of lanes and shoulder width leading up to the toll plaza as a means of making it easier to clear stranded vehicles.
Looks like the stupid motherfuckers are trying to clear the fucking stadium for the fucking game. How fucking dumb can this group of people be? I don’t want to hear a goddammed thing about running a business either. The lower half of this county is buried and under a state of emergency and these douchebags are going to try to have a football game this weekend? That area is a fucking disaster when it’s sunny outside. How is it going to be with 6 feet of snow? Fuck the NFL, fuck the Bills, fucking fucktards. This is stupidity at its purest form.
I just got back from Jamaica last night. Found 2 inches of thick frozen slush on my car. I only had shorts on. It was terrible!
It’s not hard to close the thruway, they just didn’t do it. It’s a limited access highway. You block the on ramps (with the gates we already have in the free sections and the toll barriers in the paid sections) and park a state trooper across the 90 at every exit before the snow band to force any cars that are already on the thruway off. It’s not rocket science to keep cars off a road that has only a few access points and every point has either a gate or a toll booth. You’d have the existing traffic off in 30 minutes or less. And don’t tell me we don’t have the manpower. If we can set a fucking radar trap every 10 miles all year long we can pull this off. Besides, how much manpower are we wasting dealing with all these stuck cars?
There’s also no reason for it to be closed as far as they have it closed today. If you want to block it before the snow band fine but being close from Henrietta to Dunkirk when 90% of that section is perfectly clear is just stupid.
If the thruway was run by anything but an untouchable authority we wouldn’t have these problems. With an unaccountable and untouchable group of political patronage morons in charge though this is what you should expect.

We have a L5 payloader here now from tonowanda clearing out west seneca. Just made it down our street but they have been here for a while. Cleared out the driveway yesterday for the most part but it sucked. Strictly shoveling and still going

Thruway authority makes the call on the thruway. They’re not really politicians because no one ever voted for them and the general public has no way to replace them with someone more competent.
