Snowpocalypse '14-'15 - Now 13 Deaths

This x 100. “Why should I be responsible, who can I blame instead?”

And there is a 3rd group; those who are physically incapable of helping themselves. The problem becomes when the lines between the physically incapable and the “curled in a ball” groups start to blur.

There was a guy on the news this morning who was trapped in a building with no way out. He couldn’t open any door and there were no windows. He says called all the numbers and didn’t get though to anyone. Only when the National Guard arrived was he able to get out.

Yes, yes it is

That guy had plenty off cheese burgers to shoulder that door open. The doors where glass. Break a window and gtfo if it’s that bad. Just like you said, curl up in a ball and wait.

Ok, so folks in Eastern Lancaster/Elma/Alden…I’m trying to figure out the best way to get into Alden to help a friend clear his roof before the shit hits the fan. Any idea the closest place I can pull my trailer to, so I can ride in from there?

Broadway and Walden were totally clear this morning east of Town Line. Went Town Line -> Broadway -> Pavement -> Walden -> Central -> Transit -> Sheridan to work, it was fantastic, few cars on the road, doing the speed limit or above the whole way on bare pavement as soon as I hit Broadway.

Yeah, I’m guessing you can drive right to his house. By Tuesday at midnight Central, William and Broadway in Lancaster were all passable via 4wd. I’m sure by now most of the main roads are good, especially since the brunt of yesterday’s bad was farther south.

Ok, cool. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll head in until I’m told to stop.

Many main artery roads are clear, but the travel ban is still in effect. Yeah you could probably make it, but you’d also be another a-hole getting in the way of the Tonka trucks.

They really need to relax a bit on their travel ban rhetoric. Yes, I get that the streets need to get cleared but helping get some of these roofs cleared off before houses collapse and houses dug out so people aren’t trapped in their homes is kind of important too.

Maybe I’d be a little more inclined to trust the “official” response if they weren’t finding people frozen in cars who had repeatedly called 911. It’s pretty obvious the official response could use all the volunteers they can get right now even if it does slow the street clearing a little bit.

Thruway will be open from 46-50 at 3pm
61-51 will only have on ramps open to clear vehicles moving through that area, local exits will still be closed.

I can only assume they kept it closed as long as they did so that they could allocate all the snow removal assets to where the road was still obstructed. I suppose there was still a concern about the snow band going across the thruway at Batavia again.

I also saw a number of private trucks towing excavating equipment south on Transit today.

Anyone know how the Walden/Harlem area is? Have to go there in an hr
Thanks

I would assume decent since Cheektowaga lifted their travel ban.

I gotta get into the French/Losson area. The street I need to get to isn’t plowed yet so I’ll be walking in. Anyone have any parking ideas?

walden/harlem is fine. most of cheektowaga is good to go, atleast in my area (william/union) all the streets are clear and passable

this shit blows, winter hasnt even “started” yet and i have no idea where im gonna put any more of this BS the rest of the season

Well the big warm up and rain is going to melt a lot of it but that’s a whole other problem. On and off rain between Saturday and Tuesday, with up to a half inch falling just on Sunday night. No predicted totals for Monday’s rain.

THIS

Ty jay.

Pretty sure you aren’t living in the heart of this mess, I am. I’ve been out walking within a few mile radius of this Clinton and Ogden from the beginning, and there are more than enough idiots out there causing more problems. Domino effect. I’ve lost track of how many cars with bald tires have become stuck, blocking ambulances and fire trucks in the meat of the storm…and today with the thaw more dumb dumb’s out getting stuck. A big resuce Tonka truck has been hung up for an hour because of this. Spoke to the pissed off operator who came in from Rochester and said this has been the biggest hurdle, dodging cars. I’m telling you, from having a front row seat of this mess and living side by side with some of the dumbest people, keep the driving ban active.

^If people need food, how do they get it? And im not talking about, hey who wants pizza tonight? Im talking about the people that didnt have days of food stashed away and are “starving”
