I woke up Tuesday at 4am looked out the window and instantly went outside to clear my driveway thinking, I better stay on top of this because it was already over my snowblower. I cleared my driveway 6 more times that day, the rest of my neighborhood was doing nothing, I didn’t get it. Even the guys that are usually on top of everything all the time.
I admit, I was a bit unprepared, and ran out of gas for my snowblower on day one. So I did what any capable individual would do, removed the backseat and fuel pump and filled my gas can and kept clearing my driveway. Kept it clear all day Wednesday and Thursday, this was not the storm to wait till it stops before I go out there.
Now I feel like I owe my snowblower an oil change or some maintenance.
Right, I never said they could lol. Just seemed like a cold response from Prog so I called him out. We can’t just shrug off 12 deaths and pretend they didn’t happen. And I’m not saying the gov’t is at fault or that the gov’t should do anything. People died, and everyone that sees this story (regardless of where they live) should take it as a lesson to always be prepared for an emergency. There IS a lesson to be learned, so we shouldn’t move on until we acknowledge the lessons learned.
She’s surrounded by tons of businesses restaurants and other places. She kept getting out to clear the snow from the tailpipe but didn’t just ditch the car and walk somewhere?
The only thing people will learn from that story is that if they sit around and wait for help, it will eventually come. Instead of actually making their situation better, they will once again rely on someone else.
Another thing too…all these people bitching “Where is Tim Howard!?”
He was delivering meals for meals on wheels, instead of standing in front of the camera, something that the same elected officials are doing right now. Also, the same ones calling out the NWS. This same group has an Agenda to push here and it starts at the top.
To clarify, I didn’t mean specifically the linked story (which is obviously confusing). I meant the “Buffalo Snow Storm - 12 people dead” story in a generic sense.
I thought Poloncarz did a great job with the efforts. Once the snow started coming, it wasn’t going to stop. So instead of people playing the blame game, they should have ran through a checklist. Do I have what I need? Should I start shoveling/snowblowing? Am I getting the latest weather information?
I thought him and Cuomo were doing great too until they started blasting the NWS and the people on the Thruway. Specifically Michael Wooten from WGRZ was blasting them at the press conference about why the Thruway was open. They then started blaming the NWS and the people for being on the Thruway. YOUR TOLL COLLECTORS GAVE THEM TICKETS TO GET ON THERE!!!
After a while, the press conferences just turned into a back-patting fest between Cuomo, Poloncarz and Mayor Brown. It’s obvious to me that these guys are looking out for one another, but I already knew that from the elections…
And I think that happened after Cuomo came into the picture. All I though was Cuomo stepping in front of Poloncarz, waving his dick in the air saying “LOOK AT ME, I’M HERE FOR YOU BUFFALO, TO SAVE YOU”
So you are saying that:
84" snow = 7" water
84 " x 1.25 lbs per square foot per inch = 105 lbs per square foot.
However;
7" of water x 144 square inches ( aka square foot) = 1008 cubic inches = 4.36364 gallons = 36.415 lbs per square foot
The news was spitting out the same math. One cubic foot of snow was about 20 pounds, but a foot of snow melts to 1" deep = 144 cubic inches of water = .6 gallons = 5 pounds.
Cuomo is doing everything he can to get after that FEMA money. I wonder why…
The money came from a $200 million pool allocated by the Legislature and $37.5 million in federal disaster aid earmarked to promote tourism after Hurricane Sandy.
Yeah twitter made it sound like they were “fudging some numbers” to get the FEMA money. Which of course would never happen in politics.
Also…that lady is ready to pack it in after 13 hours? Jesus…Until you’re drinking your own piss and eating the padding in the seats, why give up so easy. It’s not like she’s a frail 85 year old lady. She’s not even 50.
My biggest problem with her is where is was… William and Transit, one of the busiest intersections in Lancaster. She even said she heard the plow go by, meaning the streets were easily walkable.
Sump pump failed at my house. Told them to check it 4 days ago to make sure it would turn on. Sure enough it didn’t. And there was no water at 730am, tho I didn’t go over to the actual sump pump area. Went to my house at 1130 and there was water up past my boots in the basement.
The one that was in there was shitty and old as fuck. Home Depot had a massive pallet of all sorts of sump pumps right when you walked in the front door lol.
Picked up a 1/3hp 4000gal/hr everbilt one which is prob a POS but at least there’s no more other water. Grabbed one of those submersible pumps as well for backup.
Now I’m back at work and smell like shit.
