nice work
I thought you were selling?
in less than a week i had like 20 calls of cash and trade/cash for it…realized i just cant do it. im a bit attached to this one. just going to hang onto it.
sack up and finish this Nancy.
hey now, thats negative nancy to you. haha. im just about ready to pull the bed off of this thing, but i am trying to locate a fuel cell for not too much first, i figure i might as well relocate the tank to behind the axle while i have the bed off.
alright guys got an update on this…
got the bed off, finished welding in the notches inside and out.
decided to make a new front crossmember for the rear section of the frame. not using the stock tank as im going to a fuel cell, so why not.
tire crossemember removed and new rear crossmember in place. also removed stock gastank crossmember and welded in the new one. i still need to weld in some plating around this one and then i will need to weld in the mounting for the fuel cell behind the axle.
update…moved the front crossmember up a little, and plated it in. also wire wheeled the rear section of frame and got it in primer. will be rustproofing tonight. the entire rear chassis is done now except for the fuel cell mounting and mount points for the rollcage, that stuff i will wait until spring to do because i need to get this in storage for the winter as i do not have enough room during the winter in my garage. so for now i will just be finishing where im at so it is protected and not bare metal to the air.
plated in around the crossmember to distribute the load, went a little overkill i think.
rear framework for this stage all done.
frame wirewheeled down to bare metal
southern trucks arent crusty like those silly northern ones
in primer. didnt bother unbolting suspension because that will be done when i make the suspension changes with the drag parts.
Pretty clean.
X…
Nice…
update…got the frame rails in por 15 and got things back together, got the bed on. truck is going into storage tomorrow for the winter so this will go quiet for a while. on a side note, i also scored a s&w 12point rollcage with the sportsman addon package brand new for 200 bucks! so, as soon as spring comes i will get the truck back home and weld up the fuel cell mounts and weld in the cage.
pics…
Looks good man  Nice to meet you yesterday at the german gtg.
chose not to box the interior of the notch?
same to you, your car looks really good with those wheels on it
thought about it, but decided not to. i have a 3/16" plate on the outside and when i weld in the crossmember for the fuel cell mount and the rollcage this spring, that will really strengthen this area up. i boxed in around the front crossmember because that area is where these frames will twist. the 12pt cage will make the chassis really solid though when thats in. besides, i need the 12pt anyways because when the motor goes in, the firewall will be getting reworked (again lol) to set the motor back. i intend on shedding more weight out of this thing, and anything that cant be reduced, will be shifted to get more of the weight to the back.
thought i should update this.
bought an ls1.
nice meeting you. Def in to see the progress on this beast!
Can’t wait to see this, I’ve always had a sweet spot for s10s seeing as I own one!
I just read this entire thread and I love this build! Nice work man! I had a '84 S-10 Blazer with a small block in it many moons ago. It was a POS compared to this though. It went good in a straight line but didn’t handle for shit.
It used to toss belts and overheat every time. Whenever I took it out, it was more broken parts. Whoever built it did nothing right. Ended up trading my friend the truck. So glad I did.
It was so easy to wrench on though.
Again your truck looks great!
Not sure how I missed this thread but . Can’t wait to see where this goes with LS1 goodness.
wanna race? you have a 2-3 week head start.
edit: plus I have to do suspension still.
