OK wasn’t as bad as I assumed and its about 30M total. Still a losing business, losing team, and a city that is losing people. Good buy for Golisano since hes making out with a decent chunk of change.
In 2008, the Sabres lost approximately $9M. In 2007, they lost $5M. Indeed, since Golisano has owned the Sabres, the team has lost $19M. Their only profitable year in the past decade - 2006 - provided the Sabres with a $5M profit. Over the past 9 seasons, the Sabres have lost a total of $60M according to Forbes analysis.
In regards to what? To tell you the truth, aside from going to 20 games a year…i don’t follow them too much. I prefer to watch contenders with talent to observe.
Buffalo news now reporting Golisano wants $175MM and that number would be acceptable to Pegula.
Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano was asking for $175 million from billionaire businessman Terry Pegula to purchase the team, The Buffalo News has learned. The asking price had been a subject of widespread speculation, including one report that had it at $150 million.
No word yet on whether any agreement, verbal or otherwise, has been reached. It didn’t appear that Pegula signed a letter of intent to purchase the team, but sources confirmed the $175 million price tag and suggested Pegula would accept such a deal.
Pegula did not return telephone calls seeking comment today and has not spoken publicly about his interest in purchasing the franchise. It could be several weeks before an agreement is reached and months before any sale is complete.
as soon as golisano got outta local politics and moved out to florida the writing was on the wall. Im not surprised at all. I see this as being a good thing i think.
A source close to the situation tells 2 On Your Side’s Scott Brown that the sale of the Buffalo Sabres to Pennsylvania billionaire Terry Pegula is expected to be announced at some point after the World Juniors Championship wraps up next week.
And more good news:
As part of the sale, it’s expected that team President Larry Quinn and Chief Operating Officer Dan DiPofi, who both own small pieces of the team, would be bought out as well.
Pegula is expected to bring in his own management team.
I think this team is heading for the big shakeup it really needs.
Is our top point scorer year after year. He may be a dick in public, but he plays good hockey. Ennis is good and I’d like to see him stay, but I think often times his stick is moving faster than his brain. There’s no need to put the moves on an opposing player in your own defensive zone, toss it off the boards and get it out. Myers you have to keep, Miller I almost want to see traded ONLY because he’s such a good goaltender but we waste his talents in Buffalo…He deserves better.
