So long Tom Golisano? (Sabres sale rumors heating up)

I was just refering to his season ending injury as of late. I don’t disagree.

Miller however, should absolutely stay. Why? Because I’m greedy.

Roy is disposable, as is his salary. He’s a top line center on 3-4 teams in the NHL (Buffalo being one of them). Put him anywhere else and he’s a 50 point guy. He’s lazy and makes bad decisions 50% of the time. He’s only achieved a point per game in one season. He has 9 points in his last 22 playoff games. $3.5/$4 million a year, no thanks.

Pominville makes $5.5/season - Connolly $4.5/season - Roy $4/season.

Ryan Getzlaf makes $5/season as does Bobby Ryan

Krejci/Savard make $4/season

Hossa has $5/season cap hit

Datsyuk/Zetterberg @ $6/season

Parise is at $3/season (he’s going to catch $5/season next year after he goes RFA)

Richards makes $5/season

St. Louis is $5/season

All these guys are stellar, year after year. Comparing any of them to the 3 aforementioned Sabres is ridiculous.

This team seriously mismanages the cap and they don’t even spend all of it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we arent strapped like NJ or have someone like Shawn Horcoff signed @ $6/season or Dustin Penner.

I think roy is worth $4mill a year as our top point getter for 4 consecutive seasons and what might have been a 5th year if he didn’t get hurt this year.

Connolly can go, so can Pominville.

tim connolly needs to GTFOOMF

Still hoping for a coaching and management change before a wholesale player change. Fill some holes in the lines, get some fresh thinking in here, and see where it goes before blowing up the whole team.

x2 a change in coaching could unleash some of the unknown players or even current goal scorers to do good things.

Bump for possibly this week…

i am surprised no one posted this, its now official

Roy sucks… who cares if he is one of our top goal scorers when the team plays better without him???

How exactly does the team play better without him? What is your factual proof here?

Still think so? 1242

Lol I actually ran into Larry after I said that

I was really happy to hear Golisano’s comments about the Bills. We’ll see if it ever comes down to it, but for now it really seems like this guy cares about Buffalo.

And huge  to having a no-move clause in the contract.

Heard this one the news this morning. He isn’t as bad as people say he is.

Golisano revealed a surprise during his opening statement that a prospective buyer offered the Sabres $70 million more than Terry Pegula’s purchase price of $175 million and $14 million in liabilities. However, the team turned down the offer as the buyer demanded that the team would be allowed to move away from Buffalo.

How does that even make sense? He’s led the team in points for the past few years. Is usually one of the top goal scorers on the team. So basically since he’s doing what he’s paid to do we should dump him?

 indeed, although the NHL wouldn’t have allowed the moving of the team anyway. If they haven’t moved Phoenix whos average attendance is about 1/3 of the capacity, why would they move the Sabres? I’m assuming that would also mean the moving of the Bandits and JR. Sabres as well? WOuldn’t happen.

I just came in here to post this.

Oh and it was Jim Balsillie who offered up $70 million more than Pegula. However, he has more money than brains. He’s already been blocked from buying/moving 4 hockey teams in struggling markets. I guess when you have billions of dollars, you can continue to waste money on an un-obtainable dream. Bettman will never let Balsillie own a team.

Yeah, he can play that up like he’s some great savior of WNY hockey all he wants, but he knew the NHL wasn’t going to allow the sale of the team to a buyer considering moving it anyway. I’d be willing to bet the biggest factor in accepting Pegula’s offer was the fact that Pegula was a slam dunk for the NHL board of directors to accept.

I’d also wager this “mystery offer” Tommy alluded to was from Jim Balsillie. He’s made offers on 3 NHL franchises, 2006, 2007 and 2009. All were shot down because he wanted to move the team to Hamilton, ON.

Move Phoenix…because really…who the fuck cares? Besides the Buffalo fans in Arizona of course :stuck_out_tongue:

For starters, they are 9-5 since Roy has been injured and have scored 45 goals. The previous 14 games they were 7-7 and scored 36 goals. If Roy was so great don’t you think those stats would be reversed? If you watch the games and seriously think Roy is a good player well then… I don’t know what the hell you have been watching…

Yes.

Phoenix will never move. The NHL will continue the run the team with it’s losses. Every year the team loses the reported $25 million, the team gets harder and harder to sell, not to mention MORE expensive…to cover the NHL’s nut. $175 million this year, it’s $200 million next year…etc. etc.

The problem with Phoenix is two major things.

A.) They are trying to wager public bonds and asking for Glendale to put up $100,000,000 and they’d get the gross share of parking ticket revenue.

B.) Gary “Commissioner for life” Bettman, won’t allow a market like Phoenix to fail. All these southern markets are his brain-child and he’ll be damned if they fail. Gary Bettman, always comes out smelling like a rose…or atleast he tries to.
