The price point has a lot to do with it. I sold an $8k boat and got way more leads off of craigslist than boattrader with a minimum of nonsense. Granted, that was a boat and poor people don’t like the water. But still, the product dictates the demographic for the most part. A $2k car or whatever it was is going to attract a lot of rif raf. Probably moreso on craigslist than autotrader, but from my boat deal it seems like craigslist has a bigger user base. When I list my truck in a week or so I’m going to start with craigslist for a while before I pay for an ad.
I agree, I can’t afford a boat and wouldn’t be looking at one. But it seems like everyone who thinks they can afford a $3K car even if they have half that, try.
It’s going to be a life lesson for sure, and I had him sign the bill of sale which specifies it’s his “obligation and liability” once it’s off my property. Not that I’m trying to screw someone but at the end of the day it’s a 12 year old vehicle. I even had a hard time when selling my mothers Lexus with low miles. I put it on cars.com and bam it sold. People around here at least are generally just lower income demographics and gravitate towards me lol
cars.com allows anyone to make a free listing, which is viewed online only. My problem with this was spam. But I have sold my mothers Lexus from there so good things can come for free. One thing I have to say is, people everywhere like to come with less cash then agreed on. They figure “well I’ve inconvenienced the seller to this point they have to accept”. And I’ve personally turned away 2 or 3 buyers.
i like that in here it’s communication back and forth and now yelling points across.
haha sucks being a shit magnet doesn’t it? Sounds like you’ve handled it all pretty well. Good luck!
SHIT MAGNET, Randy.
…and to think you could have sold it locally to me, even before it had a starter in it, if only you took me up on my 4 or so attempts to come look at it.
Well I work in the day and take care of my father at night. No need to be a dick about how I couldn’t meet.
At the end of the day it’s sold and I have cash.
Dude probably paid paypal so he can put it on his CC. LOL
or used Bill Me Later, with no payments or interest for 6 months on purchases over $99. Ha
That’s Cats Fry, Cats…
 I always get those two confused.
It’s better than paying in singles, or pennies.
Besides, nobody in the Buffalo area would’ve given me more than $2,000. Cheap bastards.
