solid subframe bushings

Hey guys, everyone with solid subframe bushings…how bad is the vibration? If you had to do it again would you go solid bushings or collars?

Im trying to decide between solid bushings or collars but can’t make up my mind. I just don’t want it to be annoyingly loud and have a crazy amount of vibration.

my understanding is that they’re pretty much the same, but the collars you dont have to drop the whoel subframe to install.

i wouldnt do them again unless i absolutely had to or i was building a track only car

Not at all the same, with the solid bushings you eliminate the rubber bushing, the collars compress the rubber bushing, but it’s still there. It’s like pre-loading your springs or taking them out and replacing them with steel sleeves.

I have them and so does big-byrd. I honestly don’t feel much extra vibration. I can hear the diff whine a little more than usual. but it’s by no means harsh or unpleasent. So quit yer complaining and DRIVE

can you feel a difference in performace?

the main thing is it shuld elimate wheel hop caused from your 60 yr old bushings…

their the shit

Zero wheel hop and you can shift lock like a pro

their worth it but somtimes driving in the city can be a pain because the bushings dont give so if you drop your clutch the car just lurches forward because the bushings dont give.

Takes a long time to learn how to drive smoothe with them

I think it has a lot to do with the other suspension parts you’re using with them.

If you’re running otherwise stock suspension they won’t be nearly as harsh as if you have coilovers and multilink (as in jesse’s case).

and jese kazz 2way diff

I was running them with jic magic coilovers with 8 and 9 spring rates

hows the rear traction with solid? good, bad?

not only does jesse have a 2 way diff, china multi-link and D2’s… he also has a gutted interior…

i have the solid bushings, i like them.

Can i ask something…

  1. What exactly is wheel hop, and under what conditions does it occur?

  2. What else does replacing rear subframe bushings with new plastic or solid ones do, other than replace old worn out parts?

Thanks.

Sorry, I felt like jumping on the Nissan bandwagon.

does anyone actually make proper polyurethane rear subframe bushings for S13/S14’s ?

Go Study.

Whiteline, Energy Suspension and RS*R make full polyurethane bushing kits for s13 and s14.

and because im feeling nice…

wheel hop is when which a wheel moves up and down so intensely that it actually leaves the ground (or hops) while doing a burnout/accelerating. it can be caused from alot of unsprung weight, not enough shock dampening, worn bushings, etc.

new busings stiffens the rear end reducing body roll, wheel hop and gives the car an overall better feeling.

now go show off in mommy’s saab.

Thanks!

Now go get a license LOL!

Overboost - The rear traction with the solid bushings is alot better Car feels more planted and more responsive to the throttle input.

Lith - You can get duralyne ( i think its called ) bushings for the s13 off ebay i think their brandless though.
