Sorry about the mess, just checking in... (UPDATE)

exactly.

glad to hear your ok and  to wearing gear

yeah i would lol, thank god he stopped and made sure i was ok lol

thanks, no damage to the dumbass tho, i never made contact with him, he just caused the accident by cutting in front of me, so in court more than likely it will stand as wreckless driving on his part as the cause of the accident

he drove off cuz he didnt think he did anything (dont mind the bike sliding past your passenger side, or the horns blaring, or the HUMAN BEING flying behind your car in the street. lol

i just hope i’m covered. i don’t have collision on the bike because it was paid off in full, so if i want to see any $$$ i’m going to have to go after his insurance, or if thats not possible i’m going to threaten to sue.

short sleeves, shorts, a a skull cap helmet…idk how people do it and think they’ll be ok if anything happens…

So in NYS this is how the point system goes:

First DWI: 3pts

MURDERING SOMEONE WITH YOUR CAR: 6 pts.

Leaving the scene of an accident like the jerk who cut you off: 6pts

Getting a wicked settlement: priceless

oh wait i mean that’s worth a trillion bucks.

wooo!

glad to hear you’re alright man.

Glad your ok. I also work on the BLVD and I know how people drive like ass hats. Any pics of the bike after the wreck?

QFT

Christmas is the worst

dont take this the wrong way please…

this is a prime example why practicing EMERGENCY braking saves your ass. willybeen preached it to me and i didi it. its saved me probably 25 times in 3 seasons. you probably wouldnt have gone down if you were braking properly… ie no tires skidding. also a prime example why you buy top of the line tires… pilot powers probably wouldnt have locked up and slid on you.

glad to hear youre ok man, just keep in mind that this shit happens and grabbing a shiny new bike may not b the best idea. pick up something comperable to wht you got and replace your helmet if it hit the pavement. good luck with the legal stuff dude.

This would be bad if it happened to me. I only have a rear brake. My braking distance is LONG.

im glad you’re ok man

just got a bike myself and got a close call yesterday on main

everyone be careful damnit!

how does one properly panic brake?

I agree; reactions are a bitch sometimes but Ieatpaint makes a good point. If you practice this situation in a controlled environment it will make your “panic brake” that much more effective.

cover then squeeze the front brake more and more until you come to a complete stop while using the rear brake. At my class they preach that you dont grab the brakes in an emergency because you have a better chance of skidding out and lowsiding. Like the guy above, Definatley practice emergency stopping, it will save you many times. Just recommend going to an empty parking lot and practicing.

+1, so important, live and learn i guess.

I know people say different, but With good tires the front brake can do 100% of the work and you have one less pedal to manipulate in a panic situation.

Progressively pull the lever, don’t jab it, even when you see impending danger, once you are set in a braking situation, the weight is transferred to the front, and the forks are compressed, providing less rake, you can pull the brake harder (until you flip over) and the tire won’t slide.

<3 thanks boys… its true… practice braking until a stoppie doesnt feel unnatural and you know the limits of your tires and your brakes… seriously i cant stress it enough

When your on your way to work, home from work, just out cruising…

  • find a nice clean parking lot, and take 15 minutes practicing
  • practice going 0-30-0, then 0-40-0, all the way up to what ever speed you feel comfy going…
  • frankly if you havent practiced coming from a stop from that speed you truly have no business going that fast
  • This technique can and will save your life…ALSO. buy the best tires you can afford. (understand that tires will not grip well before the tires are warmed up… be prepared for skids if you do this straight out of the garage.)

I get asked a bunch of times a season how to wheelie by new riders, bottom line, a wheelie will never save your life, stopping fast will… practice stopping, run a trackday, learn the basics… your life and bike depend on it

Glad you’re alright, hope everything works out for you

I always wondered if that was the same with motorcycles. On my bike bike I don’t even know if the rear brake works. It’s relatively ineffective compared to the front brake and proper weight transfer.

i just took the msf course just got the cert. and iwould def recommend taking it its well worth it i learned a little bit about the whole panic braking and such it was worth the 275$

Practicing braking is a great idea that is forgotten by a lot of new riders. I’m glad you’re okay.

its claimed 65/35 front rear stopping power… but i bet its closer to 70 or 80% front power over the rear…

I wouldnt ride a bike without a front brake. /story

i actually took the course through MANY’s, the NY ride with PRIDE course, and when I went to stop I did use the proper technique to brake, but remember, I had a matter of 5 feet to go from 35mph to 0, so no matter, i was kinda effed u know?

This kid actually sounds like he has a brain in his head. So I wouldn’t doubt that he’s tellin the troof
