I didn’t say NT was, I agree it isn’t that much better.
I’m not trying to insult you, I just call it as I see it and I’ve seen all sides of Lockport including your neighborhood, I have a friend who lives on Beattie. I understand what you are trying to say, I’m just saying that it’s not the greatest either. I agee with Dex. This would be a huge factor for me and I would chose Lockport for the same reasons, the only things I don’t like about it are the distance from the rest of buffalo and the people who take things the wrong way and look for a fight in everything.
Wow, interesting to see the spirited debate I started!
I ended up putting an offer in on the house and it was accepted, so barring the inspector finding dead bodies in the basement or termites in the walls i’m gonna be a Lockport resident in a couple of months.
To weigh in with my own opinion on the “Why Lockport?” subject, it was partially the fact that I’m a first time home buyer with limited funds to start out. There just wasn’t anything appealing in Buffalo or the near suburbs - everything I looked at in my price range was roughly 60 years old but overpriced and needed a ton of work. I found this house - which is an early 1900’s built home and it was almost completely renovated. All I have to do is bring my furniture with me and move in (new house has all new appliances!), and the mortgage is affordable. I have gathered that just about everyone thinks the area is nice - certainly at the very least a lateral move from North Buffalo - so i’m satisfied with that. My drive to work is gonna be 10-15 min longer than it was and i’m not so far from my family in Buffalo that it’s an inconvenience for them to come visit.
All in all, I think things will be just fine for me - until the juggalettes come…
I would chose Lockport, or Niagara County over Buffalo any day personally. I like to hang out in buffalo here and there but I wouldn’t want to live there.
^^^i live in pendleton. love it. plan to buy property this summer to start building. the only problem i have with pendleton is all the damn yuppies from willamsville, kenmore, etc. they move in next to trails and bitch and complain until they close. atv trails are about 25% of what they used to be ten years ago. not a problem with snowmobile trails though. starpoint is a good school but the administration is a bit rediculous. they like to punish students for things that happen out side of school.
i was born in lockport and lived in an area considered “not so nice” down by north park middle school until my parents finally had the money to move to a nicer area out in the country on crosby road when i was 18. i now live in amherst because it’s close to the ub’s but lockport is a great place. locust street is iffy only because it depends on what side of high street you’re on. south of high is nice, north of high you’ll see some sketchy characters lol. the thing about lockport, and niagara county in general, is that resale never really changes. whatever you pay for that house, you can expect to sell it for about that price. a lot of people flip houses in lockport because they can get them very cheap and sell them for a decent profit, which honestly, it sounds like that may have happened in your situation considering all the work that was recently done. idk just my opinion
wow that was long. gl man, wish they’d open the mall back up so kids had something to do nowa days…
