Spec V SAFC II Install

Well, it’s been quite the day for my future plans.

A) I get an email from Jamie @ PTI saying that I can’t get the top bin SAFC holder for at least 5 weeks. The Sunglass holder guy says 3 weeks maximum. Guess who gets my business?

B) Apparently Forced Induction Racing is going out of business, leaving PTI as the only real trustworthy turbo kit maker for the V.

Yeah buddy, I have to wait at least 2 more weeks probably for mine so yeah PTI has their hands tied with those thiongs which sucks, but I am going to wait it out at least im #3 on the list of like 20 people, I get one of the first five (YES!!!)

I was only jokin about the being choked part of you gettin a PTI turbo kit, I would just be jealous.

Yeah well, don’t be jealous until I have it in my hands and on the car. Plans could change sooner than later.

Really tired of all the family car jokes though - time to beat up on some Corvettes.

Well I have my SAFC Upper bin being shipped out on Mondat so now I’m gonna have to figure out when I want to get it dynotuned! can’t wait for this thing!

No doubt - that thing is cool.

Mine should be coming between now and 3 weeks from now - but we shall see. Then I have to figure out how in the hell I’m going to disassemble half the interior to run the electrical connections to the ECU. BLARGH!

LOL, did Jamie tell you three weeks, he told me how long the second/third batch of bins may take and it is AT LEAST 3 weeks, but hopefully the guy who fabs these things for him will pick up the pace (picante style, jk) anyway, I was browsin the Vboard and I cam upon this, so I’m goin to use this as a guide to see where I can run the wires, I’m sure once I get everything off I will see the light, but yeah maybe this will give you some ideas.

Oh yeah…saw that. I’m pretty lazy about ripping apart my car. I think I’d have to run the wiring across the roof liner, down the passenger side A-pillar, through a grommet-hole in the firewall, and then into the ECU. Fun stuff. :vom:

Actually Jamie told me right off the bat that it would be 5 weeks or more. Sucks to be him, I guess - I like the sunglass holder more anyway. That way I can mount gauges on the bin lid - when I actually need some, that is.

So you are going with the Sunglass bin?

Yep. My parts are already being modified in the US. It’s pretty annoying going through hot days like today was without being able to open your sunroof.

The switch is integrated into the sunglass holder panel.

Oh, and stay away from my HID’s from HPAutoworks, beeatch! I PM’ed Andy about them about 1.5 months ago, and about once every two weeks I get a reply - talk about annoying. :?

Oh buddy, I’ma lookin and I’ma likein!!!

Can’t wait to get my MR DP on and get my SAFC II Dyno tuned did you get a puller to throw on your pulley, have you put it on yet?
I’m orderin my Pulley tomorrow.

NO man, I haven’t had the chance. I have more mods in my basement than I do on the freakin’ car!

I still have to install:
Cams
BSR
Pulley
Nismo Bars
Nismo Coilovers
Nismo Bushing Kit.

Blargh! Work sucks my ass - no fucking way am I doing construction next year.

Well I have the pulley on the way, and hopefully my upper bin will arrive tomorrow!

we’ll have to do our pulley’s soon, and maybe some of the other toys you have waitin in your basement, some of them should take no time at all. especially the nismo bars and coilovers

I’m thinking possibly next weekend (the one after DTP) to have a mod install day where everyone helps everyone install their mods. We’ll see.

Yeah that would be cool you should make it next Sunday  Cause I work on Saturday till 530, it blows but I gotta pay for my beast somehow :finga:

For sure! I’ll look into organizing it…

I installed my pulley yesterday, actually. Not a really hard job, but unfortunately I had to jury rig a system of getting it off the car. That system is now being returned to Canadian Tire since I have no further use for it… (and barely used it whatsoever).

I have an idea how we can go about installing your pulley much more easily though. It’ll cost about $7 and an hour of time.

I can’t say it made a huge difference, but the idle is smoother and rev matching gears is much easier now. It seems to have made the biggest difference in higher gears under a cruising load, accelerating 10 KPH in 6th now seems much more snappy than before.

Hahaha, you bought that power…something kit for alternators and a/c pulleys hey? I rented it from Part source but wow did it suck, I wasn’t going to try for any longer then I did so I ordered a Harmonic pulley on the net, it’s an easy job… as long as you have the right puller hey!

Sort of. I actually bought two “kits” from CT and then jury rigged the apparatus of one and the puller screw from another.

It really isn’t a hard install at all - I’m talking like, 45 mins MAX. And it was easy on mine…

Installed my SAFC-II yesterday man this thing is awesome.

PyreXXX if you need some help doing the install I will be glad to help if you haven’t done it already, took me 6 hours to do it, I’m sure I could do it 10times faster second time round tho. Powertech kinda jerked me around (I think) with that SAFC Upper functional bin so they are sending me a check in the mail and I have sent my sunglass bin holder to Jason in Illinois to do the fiberglassing for it. I’ll be taking my car down to RCTS in Calgary on Monday morning to get it dynotuned, thanks a lot Silverboost for the hookup to that place, hopefully I’ll get sum good gains out of it.
