Hey guys, got caught on the 190 in Buffalo doing 18 over last night. I know it’ll end up being 200 bucks and 2 points but I was wondering what choices I have that might prevent me from getting points (I have a clean license currently)
I understand that getting a lawyer in Buff is hit or miss as to whether it will get dropped or not.
If you’ve gotten points than what have you done to make them go away after the fact, and how does that affect insurance?
Yeah I know there are threads on this and I’ve looked at them, but I want to ask anyways.
There are no lawyers allowed in buffalo, rochester, NYC and a few other places in NYS. You can get a court date and try to plead and hope the officer doesn’t show or there is some paperwork error. It usually doesn’t happen though.
When you go in you talk to a DMV appointed lawyer who acts as judge.
The TVB is the biggest scam court ever. When I went I was the only one out of 30+ defendants to win, and that’s because I had some cop connections that got the officer to drop the charges. I just watched the rest of them parade in, get found guilty, and bent over.
Dude, I got caught doing 70 in a 55 last year on the 190. I went online, did some research, and found out about the TVB and how it’s barely constitutional.
I said fuck it, I just mailed it in. 18 over is 4 points by the way, not two. It’s ok though, I feel your pain because I have 'em too.
What about point reduction? What can I do to limit insurance penalties for it? That’s really my only concern, I don’t care about the fine, I’ll pay that np.
There’s a good chance your insurance might not even notice that you got it man. Or you could take the 6 hour point reduction course, which is HELL. I guess there’s online options that are easier now than the one I went to in person and wasted an entire Saturday.
yea dude buffalo is not 2points its 4points, just mail it in and pay the fine, its not worth your time to go downtown, i got caught doing 68 in a 55 on the 190 in my little s10 not my car! i feel the pain!
edit: where is this online course for point reduction sean?
It depends on your insurance company, but if you don’t make any changes to your policy they might not ever check to see that you have the increased points.
