I saw '98, but i didnt see '94. thank you buddy!
ha, my s10forums.com thread is #2 in google when you search “sr20 in s10”. Idk how to make it work for “sr20det in s10” though
cool build, what ya doin with the suspension etc?
it already has lowering blocks and I think springs, other than that maybe an ebay ‘kit’ with new front suspension linkage and what not.
NO airbags or hydraulics or anything like that
lose the leafs and go with coils, you wont regret it.
you can even grab all the hardwear from a doner car, or even a 4 link is pretty cheap now.
yea I will probably go truck arm suspension eventually.
looking good man, and as for s10forums, dont bother with build threads, just browse to find info on there. its best that way haha. if you got any questions about these trucks lemme know, and as for the 8.8 rear, how much power you pushing? youd be surprised with the 7.5 itll take abuse about up to 400-450 horse with gears locker welded tubes and a braced housing cover. if your that high in hp and tracking it every week it will go though. as for the rear suspension, ive seen 500hp ls1 swapped s10s cut 1.5 60 fts on stock leafsprings with caltracks and stickies and a good locker.
best part about this truck is its the same color as my truck haha.
well youll have to get me some info on the rear end some time. and as fas as suspension goes, I just want something that will hook good at the track and allow for some spirited driving on occasion. If I can get that done with leafs then thats fine with me.
and it will be black come spring, btw. lol
does anyone (newman, lol) see any problems with my tranny mount? is it not beefy enough? (after I add that brace)
^^^when i made mine i cut the ends off the factory mount and used a 3/16" wall round tube about 1-1/2" diameter and welded the ends onto it the used 1/8" plate at the mount for the tranny and boxed in the 3 sides for the mount. i imagine youll be fine with the angle iron however i dont like how its welded on the frame, i see the corners being a stress point at the weld and possibly cracking it over time.
the actual cross bar isnt welded to the frame. it bolts to the brackets I made. and the diagonal bar I drew in will bolt in also. its kinda hard to explain with words…
ugh. I wish I could delete my thread on s10forums
This is a cool swap and it will haul and every person that hates japanese cars will not belive what you hav under the hood becasue it will be eating v8’s
cool swap lol.
a buddy of mine did the 350 swap in a 94 teal s10. originally a 4.3L 5-speed truck, he bolted the engine right up to the trans and kept the 4wd. made for an easy swap.
rust freaks me out though. plus i hate repairing rust damage.
Brian
yea, its pretty rusty. but the 94 is in ALOT better shape than the 98. hopefully I can get something done this weekend. I have to change all 4 shocks/struts on a 93 camaro then attend a bachelor party…
i was just going to pm you lol, good thing
i support this! Will be a cool truck.
I had small block s10’s big block s10’s. But this should be a fun lil motor scooter.
That is the first thing that came to mind, get a custom one made… Just cutting and welding on to something that spins that fast is going to make some awesome carnage when it destroys itself.
is this a good place to use QFT? idk what that means though, seems right. lol
I wouldn’t be afraid of a wobble I would be afraid of finding the natural frequency of the drive shaft at a lower RPM than designed and causing deformation of the drive shaft into your legs
