going out to drifting tonight I gave the car some gas on the highway to pass a couple cars and soon as i let off light smoke poured outta the exhaust. couldnt tell if it was white or bluish. so try again a couple more times, giving the car some throttle and nothing really. then a couple minutes later it happened again, whenever i let off after accelerating the car just poured a light color of smoke.
some of it was coming in through the shifter? so i thought maybe it was just from the engine bay and not out the exhaust, but after stopping with two friends it was definitely coming out of the exhaust. one guy said it was bluish, one said it was white. fuck. kinda smelled like oil to me, but im pretty stuffed up. checked the rad, no oil. checked the dipstick, didnt look to be any coolant.
so we park the car at the gas station, get a ride to drifting, come by on the way back after drifting. start it up, let it warm up. give it some gas… nothing. drive the car home. and my friend said the only smoke he saw coming out of the exhaust was black. what the fuck.
some people at the track suggested it was probably my turbo seals. but someone said if it was the car wouldnt boost/wouldnt have any go to it? i dont know.
I think if it was turbo seals or oil burning, it would be a more consistant burn of blackness. judging from your story i want to blame the fuel system. what are you running? how new is your motor?
oil from your turbo would be black, white smoke can mean that steam is building up, do you have a oil pressure guage? Looks like you’ll have to crack open your engine, most likely some seal is broken like a headgasket or something, someone correct me if worng.
Black? I think not man, I just took off a turbo that would intermittently blow shit tonnes of blue. And other times would burn super clean. If your running a bushing turbo, and all your other fluids havent mixed, I’d blame the boost side of your engine. Pop off the front side of your turbo and check for forward and back shaft play.
