Sometimes when I drive my car the trasmission feels sticky, like it has a hard time getting into first, second etc.
It can get pretty bad and I sometimes have to really force into and out of gear.
It only seems to happen when it gets somewhat cold out.
I don’t know if this is normal, or if its just because of the weather.
Any ideas why its like this?
When’s the last time you changed your fluid? And what did you use?
sounds like you have the wrong shifter in it. Find someone with annother SR trans and swap shifters. I had the same problem about a year ago with a 25 gtrans with a 20 shifter in it.
I’m going to change the fluid sometime this week and I’m not sure what was in it last, I’ve only had the car about a month.
If that doesn’t work I’ll try the shifter idea.
Thanks for the help!
i have Redline MT90 in my tranny and its the same when it gets cold out!
i think its just because the oil is too thick!
I’m going to try and get my fluid changed today or tomorrow if possible.
It was really bad this morning. I could not get to school, let alone out of my garage.
It just wouldn’t go into gear.
Could this still be the fluid or is it maybe something worse?
If you force it, does it grind?
how hard did you beat on it when i ran? could possibly worn the sycros
Sounds like the clutch just isnt dis-engaging. Fluid would be my guess.
If I force it hard enough it doesn’t grind it will just stall.
I havent pushed it that hard when it ran, just normal daily driving.
Sounds like the clutch just isnt dis-engaging. Fluid would be my guess.
This is how I would describe it.
My clutch does not feel as stiff as it usually does.
I’ll get the fluid changed and go from there.
Thanks for the help guys!
does it feel stickier getting out of gear too? or just hard to get into gear?
my car was like that, i swapped to Redline MTL, and it shifts great now.
It could be a small leak in your clutch hydraulic system aswell. Check your reservoir bottle to see if its a little low. Considering you noticed a softness in the pedal feel. I am going to guess its a problem with the master or slave cylinder.
So it turns out Variable was right.
It was my master of slave cylinder.
My car is all up and running now, thanks for the help guys!
Good to hear that its all up and running, plus you don’t have to pull the tranny which is always nice to hear.
how much was it for new master clutch cylinder? i think i need to change that too
With labour I cost me about $230
