sr25 swap in canada?

Do you think that 180lbs will throw off the balance after relocating the battery and a hood swap?[/quote]

its really important how much farther forward the RB would sit in the engine bay. sure you can move or add weight to the back, but if more of the RB’s weight sits farther forward over the front wheels your still going to have very negative effects on handling.

quote from Sport Compact Car Sept. 2003:

RB engine will sit a little higher and a little farther forward than is ideal. Some of the Hood Bracing will have to be removed to clear the throttle body and BOV flange and the shifter will sit about an inch and a half forward of the center of the shifter hole in the floor. the cast iron downpipe will also interfere with the steering shaft and the transsmission crossmember won’t quiet bolt in properly.

i think even the battery has been removed to the rear trunk…the weight balance of car has been ruined …the head will still b very heavy…

actually, rx-7 should be on your list too. it’s a nice car with plenty of potential. you can always get the generation III rx-7 (or is it g-II) and just put the supra 3JZ engine

you can install the 3jz in the 240… check out www.overboost.com

i wouldn’t put an rb26 in a 240, esp in an S13. you should get the S14 if you decide to go with the rb25. the cheapest s14 i’ve seen around is $6500. or goto the wreckers and get an s14 body (your cheapest option). frankly, $20K is not going to be enough for all the work needed on the car unless you’re going to keep everything (eg suspension, etc) stock.

KA24DE has a LOT of petential. get a Greddy stage III turbo
www.enjukuracing.com
they have a 240 project car which will give you more info on KA turboing…hope this helped

With about 10,000 in parts the 3JZ will decimate all and if you need to, overnight parts from Japan…

Sorry, i should just let this topic dies, but…

i’d just like to point out, that the rb25/26/30(30 requires custom hood) will sit nicely in the enginebay of a s-13, it will require custom mounts, so the intake doesn’t hit the hood, and you don’t screw up the center of gravity, but thats it.

I don’t think custom mounts are needed if the Cefiro crossmember is used.

you don’t ‘need’ custom mounts, you can do what scc did, but get a new intake so you don’t have to run everything over the valve cover.

Not quite familur(sp) with that option, most my knowledge comes from the s-13. I gues it would depend where the mounts are located on the crossmember, and how they make the engine sit.

I’d do custom mounts cause the clearence from the rad to the engine is gonna be tight no matter what, might as well have the extra 2" to work with.

I think once you ride in a 240SX with a sr20det at 325 whp, you will find that you dont need 500 hp, i have ridin in the JIC Magic 240 with a 400whp sr20det at SEMA, and let me tell you even with beasty tires on the back, it wouldn t go in a straight line, all it did was spin its tires and kick sideways, then he started to drift  300hp in a 2500 lb car isnt the same as 300 hp in a 3700 lb mustang

i have a rb25det in my 95 240sx

Almost about 2 years late on this post dude…

Wow… you guys were so much friendlier back then

Wow, after reading all these post. I have a few things to say.

1- An Rb25 can handel greater than 400 whp with stock internals, and thats at 18 psi.

2- For the people with sr or ka-t; to make 400 whp, do not tell me - that it has all stock internals.

3- If you price out all the overall expense to get an rb and a sr to 400 whp, you will realize that an rb is cheaper and more reliable than an sr.

4- For these reasons, that is why I did an rb.

5- I can install an Rb (depending on options) for as low as $10 - 12 k.

$12k eh… where is the other $9000 going considering RB20s and 25s can be purchased for ~$1800-2000 US shipped.

yup, these days rb is a very viable option anyone who is at least a little bit intelligent can do it…

also how did nobody notice people saying 3jz? there is no such motor it’s the 2jz lol

hi, I’m new here and lost, where’s my daddy?

Ke-ripes I’m tired of poopy threads, wheres Farmer?

But realistically, an SR swap 1-4 days if parts are present, RB swap ? anyone here have it?

Do what ever you want, but I really don’t understand the mantality that lacks the confidence to make peronal life altering decisions alone? like really does anyone here know whats best for whats-his-face?

By a Camaro, grow a mullet, marry a girl from a trailerpark, move out of your parents house and sell your computer at your “car-port sale” (trailers never have garages’)…Bye-bye :squintfinger:

The other $9000 … Hmm, lets see … how about - mounts, harness, drive shaft, front mounted intercooler, intercooler piping, bov, fuel pump, radiator, cooling fans, cooling fan controller, down pipe & labour for the install ( to name a few).

Like I mentionend, install (turn key)

Fair enough.

Wow!

i have learned so much since this thread. i can’t believe this was 2yrs ago.
i stuck with ka(soon to be ka-t) by the way. feel free to lock this thread.
