Do you need the valve solenoid (passenger side) and or boost sensor (driver side). One is located on each of the strut towers in a diagram I have, but I am naive to the turbo and need to learn more…oh, and where is the best place to locate the adaptor for a mechanical boost gauge?
Neither of them are needed.
Then why are they there? and how do I bypass them? and where does the extension off of the lower hot pipe go on my FMIC?
From what you have explained… not very much BTW… I think you discussing a SR swap, and referring to the AVI solenoid, and the boost control solenoid.
I’ve never used either, so as others have suggested they aren’t n
eeded.
AIV… if you block off teh hole in the down pipe and throw away the AIV system then the solenoid isn’t needed as there’s nothing for it to control.
Boost control… as far as I can tell this limits the amount of boost in the lower gears (1, 2 and maybe 3)… if you want to limit the boost then use it by all means… I guess Nissan figured it was necessray to do this to control wheelspin maybe. Personally I like boost.
How do you bypass them? Well don’t hook them up to any wires or vaccume hoses. The hose that goes to the boos controller goes directly to the waste gate I believe. (actually I always tee off the biger hose that goes to the charcoal canister as it’s the right size for the waste gate.
If your aren’t talking about a SR then ignore anything I said :?

Here’s the thing…on the stock i/c the is a bypass valve and then there is the solenoid. I have neither and the mechanic doing the sr swap figures Nissan put them there for a reason and doesn’t want to #%@! anything up. Now…where does the wastegate actuator nipple (vacuum line?) attach at the other end? Intake, or cold side or hot side…I guess my question is…vacuum wise…what controls the wastegate actuator?
thx
Like I think I said above (with a few typos) … I always tee off the big hose that goes to the charcoal canister for the wastegate actuator. The other end goes to the big nipple on the SR TB.
OK… now you’re asking about a bypass valve. Remeber above I said you didn’t give enough detail? This is the first time you have mentioned a bypass valve… A bypass valve, often called a re-circulation valve, or BOV (if it’s vented to the atmosphere) is required. It can be installed in the Hot, or Cold pipe. It releives the pressure from the turbo when you close the throttle , BOV vents it, re-circulate valve puts it back into the Turbo intake after the MAF.

Thanks Martin. Appreciate it. But then where does the bov nipple go and where is the best place to put a boost pressure gauge. Could you email me a rough sketch as to where all the vacuum lines should be placed?
No. I could have done the swap for you, but since you are paying someone to do it, they shoudl be able to figure a few things out for themselves. If you need to figure out all the details for them, I’d suggest a google search.
