Im new to this site, and will soon be new to the driving world (legally lol)
i dont have my G2 yet, but will soon and i was looking at a skyline (1989-1992… gts-t i think it is… i really like the fronts on those things)
anyway, i’ve read the other posts and i know it’s not suggested as a first car, this might have just skipped in my head, but why was it suggested as not a very good first car for choice
the right hand drive is okay, i can get that down pat (i’m FROM england), granted it does have a huge amount of horsepower i know that
money isn’t too much of a problem as far as insurance goes (i’m a personal trainer)
what are some other factors? will insurance companies even insure me at all? i will be calling around but not this second, its 11:30 at night and its just on my mind right this second
hey man, some companys will insure you but just the bassic comp. insur. will be about 500/month easy.
if you want to start off with a gts-t than thats cool and if you have the money to do so even better!
but be ware, you cant just buy the car and be done with it, your looking at 10K plus for a decent gts-t and your going to want one, parts are not as easy to come by as you may think, with the KA or SR you can have any part same day, but the RB it may take a while so be ready for some down time. i would keep a spare alt. starter. ect… on hand just in case…
i would say, you can ask someone here. Who has/had a skyline, I’m sure someone will help you out. Also you can do research and learn everything you can.
i sugest that you buy a 240sx 95 and up for a first car look for a cheap one and and modify it your self, cuz for the price you’re going to buy the skyline you can modify your 240 to be sexier and more powerfull that a skyline plus like fastback and 91hach said the part for the skyline are not very popular and the 240s you can easy get them…i own a 1995 240sx se and iam loving man plus alot of our sponsors have cheap parts, engine …etc…but don’t get me wrong the skylines are sexy cars they’re just costly and pricy so its up to you man:C :C :R :{
lol you guys are discouraging him to get a skyline…
rb stands for racing breed remeber that!
whether you got a rb20 or 25 or 26, its still an rb. true legendary power!
but yes you are right, parts arnt easy to come by for a rb20 compared to the other rbs.
they are slowly becomming more obsolete. however, if tuned right and kept well, you can get yourself a very powerful car…
i dont mean to brag, but ive got a 92 skyline gts-t. rb20 which ive rebuilt, and kept well tuned…
i get 1/4 miles in the 12 second range… ive spanked a few gtrs, they run at 13 seconds.
theres a very few gts-t out there that can take on gtrs… but people like us usually dont sell of our cars too quick… so if your going to get one, dont get a 5grand rust bucket, instead by a quality vehicle that you can enjoy and drive hassle free.
or
another option, get a 240 and drop in a rb20. the light chasis of 240 plus madd power from rb… that would make a great drifter!
just get your self a skyline gtr r32 you will have best in boath worlds AWD & RWD just by pulling 2 fuses under hood and lot pwr parts are not to hard to find and good price for what you will get 8-12 grand get you a good one & under 5grand for engine hop-ups
and you will have a beast!! GL…
