hey everyone, i have been looking on the internet for a few days about things latley i have been considering selling my 91 240sx plus money i have saved to buying a Skyline GTS-T, now i know some things about skylines but i dont have any experince with them other then in my gran turismo games haha, that being said what should i expect with this type of car? i mean does it break often ? hard to find parts ? expensive to drive ? these are a few things i would like to know about…
also witch places have any of you guys had experince with buying your skyline from? i would like to buy it from a place that has no BS and gives a straight price for the car when i pick it up and doent chage crazy importing fees ect,
from what i understnad the GTS-T is the rear wheel driver version of the car i do not want a 4WD Skyline,
Ideal car would be 1991 or 1992 Skyline GTS-T Light silver outside, black inside and stock skirt package that the cars come with, good condition under 200,000 KM…
My buget would be no more then 10,000$ for this car to buy it anymore then that and i might as well save it
so whats your advice for me and share your experince with buying your skyline/searxching for one…
I found this this would be ideal to me other then the inside of the car looks in quite rough shape… that place says it comes from vancouver and then has to be shipped to toronto so ide be looking at around 7500 for the car…is my estimate… also what are the stock areo packages? becasue this silver car is what i like, dont really like the look as much without these areo, also do all GTS-T come with a Turbo RB20?
lol. sorry about that. i just basiclly told him to talk to me if he has any questions about skylines or just purchasing one. i know a little about skylines(dont mistake me for an expert though cuz im not). if anyone has any questions just ask me and if know ill answer it for you, if i dont know i can certainly ask people that do.
Hi, we can help you get a Skyline. We are located in Toronto. Come by our shop, you can take a look at our GTR’s, sit in them etc and I’ll answer all your questions.
The best advice is to get a GTR/GTS-T that is in the best condition you can afford. The cheaper Skylines should be avoided if you want a reliable car that you can build upon; otherwise you will be spending alot of money just trying to get the car running well.
Everyone who drives a good Skyline, never regrets buying one. Buying a lemon GTR/GTS-T is a major PIA.
I will be at the shop this Saturday if you want to talk further…
I was wondering the same thing as this guy. Could someone give me some info on skylines and how much they cost to maintain? if i get one is there anythign I should do with it as soon as i get it?
they dont really cost to much to maintain as long as you change parts before they brake. things you’ll need to do once you get one is change spark plugs, change coilpacks, change mafs, fluid change(oil, brake, etc…). changing those should ensure you a hassle free car for years just as long as you dont beat the shit out of the car everyday and try to use 94 gas as much as possible
I just registered to say that not buying a GTR because its AWD would be silly when, if you want, you can make switching between AWD and RWD as easy as flipping a switch.
The GTR also has the RB26DETT, I believe the GTS-T has the 2 litre?
sure thats a good idea. eventually you’ll need to rebuild your front diff. im putting a switch on mine but only for emergencies. lol. i have a gtr but dont diss the rb20. ive seen some quick gts-t’s that can spank most stock gtr’s
I hope i can help provide some insight as i am a new GTR owner. I was really impressed with Mitch and the guys over at JDM-Imports. Very professional and they do a good job of catering to your needs and finding the best vehicle for your dollar.
I waited 3 years to get my GTR, i was a member of gtrcanada since 04 and i just got my Skyline in Jan 07. Whats super important before you even consider buying one is Insurance. Shop around for a while get quotes. Once you have an idea of what that will be like, then start looking. I agree with Mitch and spending a bit more upfront to save down the road. You defiantely don’t want a lemon, with having to ship parts and your paying a premium for having a rare car. GTS-t’s are great cars and you should be able to find one for approx 10K. But shop around and do your homework prior to buying. Never take anything that a single person says as the end all be all.
i will fully agree to shop around for insurance. i didn’t and picked up a 4 door GTS w/ the RB20DET. i am still having problems with insurance. couldn’t find any for a long time, than got it, than got it cancelled because it’s modified. now i have it, but because i didn’t have it plated right away there was something wrong with VIN validation through the MTO, and now it’s getting cancelled again through a different company. It’s been a real pain to get it all together. Good job doing the research now though!!
pm me if you need help finding one. i have a few friends that im helping sell their cars. plus i can also help you find one thats just right for you. honestly the best time to buy is now while its still winter. that way you have everything worked out by summer and all you need to do is drive drive drive. lol
Any questions can be sent this way as well being young and owning a skyline has taught me a lot. Hanging out with veterans like Alex and Oni JDM boys has also taught me a fair share. Good luck! Never cheap out on a GTR, mint GTS-T instead FTW!
hey guys just info for people PMing and asking about selling my car ect…this post was from last winter when i was considering a Skyline but i choose to stick with my 240SX i love it to much haha…some good info in this thread though thats for sure.
