Well, from a purely aesthetic perspective, I think a slightly stretched look is good, but most of those cars are overdoing it. Personally, I think the best is a nice square tire, no bulge but no excessive stretch either.
I allways thought the stretch was to prevent tires from being ripped off the rim. BMW didint stretch the tires on the 325xi and this happend…
…doing doughnuts in a 325xi, slid over a crack in the pavement(like the ground at downsview for DMCC) with some nice angle and BAM air bags go off/car shuts down and im all confused… get out to see the tire half off of the rim… $3000 later … no alignment or body work needed… just new airbags and a wheel to replace the full size spare that had the car driveable about 10 minutes after the incedent.
Zipties are good for drift cars; they break clean and the bumper falls off to be mounted again later in the day. No worries about cracking around the mounting points. That and it’s convienient.
No it’s Bruce, Travis, haha. Ali has a beard man, get yo shitttttt straight. :/:
I don’t stretch my tires, just doesn’t look right to me;
like a fat man trying to wear a normal size shirt. IMO.
With access to information for the TIRE MANUFACTURER there is usually a Rim size that a particular tire was DESIGNED for. but most people think they know more than a Goodyear or Michelin engineer: then they can do what they want with their tires.
A nice square tire looks better, IMO
i can understand the ‘stiffer tire’ argument if somebody wants to run on 14x10 rims. but owns alot of “all season” tires. BAM drift setup. and if you burning used tires, who cares!
But for people who do it just for looks, not my thing.
If the rims dont’ fit, don’t wear the shirt fat boy lol
Man, not even two months into the off-seAson and I amnalready falling off my game. Shiiit.
Also stretched tires can be smexy man I don’t rock them ATM, but I would if the shoe fit.
I like my 255’s on 9.5’s
Going with 265’s this season though.
I had 235 on a 9.5 and 215 on an 8.5 it was a small stretch and looked good IMO. Plus it let me slide in the rain nice and easy. too much stretch looks lame IMO but we do what we have to do to fit our shit!!
225/45R15’s on 15x10 et-20’s
wowww, i likeee! wicked fitment.
on subject though. i run slightly stretched tires because i like the stiffer sidewall, i like how it looks, it makes wheels fit nicer in my opinion, and my car doesn’t make the pony’s to effortlessly slide proper fitting tires on a 9.5" rim. i also pretty much dislike any car regardless of how baller everything is, if the wheels don’t fit flush, and i could fit a finger between the fender and tire. that’s just my preference though. which i’m sure some people will bash on.
in spring, i’ll be running 235/40’s on 9.5" in the rear, and 225/40’s on 9.5" in the front. nothing crazy.
I think Newfoundland’s pics look fine, but the one with the white wheels from Speedhunters looks like fucking shit. It truly amazes me that people can like that. It’s not just from a functional perspective that I dislike it, I actually think it LOOKS fucking awful.
Give me your 9.5", 10", 10.5" wide wheels ill give you some 7.5" wide wheels. I need some extra set of rims to put some slicks on or something lol…
Anyways I think we can pretty much agree that it’s a personal taste thing… and nothing technical or functional about it… other than fitting something that shouldn’t be fitted in the first place (if done properly – eg; fitting a 17x9.5 wheel when you have no clearance so you chose to use a tiny winy tire to make it all fit somehow).
And seriously:
Might as well not fit tires.
I rather take something like this:
Fuck yea, that mustang looks JUST right!
