Stuffing a front mount onto my 05 STi - done!

Also, Friday after work i plan on putting the car up on ramps, and mounting the intercooler and piping. This should give me all day Saturday to cut the bumper, really taking my time, to get it as perfect as possible. Expect a huge set of photos this Sunday.

isnt FPgreen good up to 500wheel?

FPGREEN=400-425AWHP on pump but I dont think it will make 500AWHP!

fp green is like a 450 hp turbo, where as the red is around a 500 hp turbo. (pulled from innovative’s site). I’ve seen a few 400+ awhp setups done with an FP green, so I believe it.

ok so basicly with say between 350-400awhp the clutch is really the only thing that would need to be upgraded and have a fairly reliable setup? Ive been wanting an STi and am seriously thinking of picking one up sometime this year. How much do these cars weigh?

Well, thats the case of the three things you listed. There are still TONS of supporting mods you need ,to get that far . I have probably… ~ 300 awhp or less right now, and I have alot of money into the car. Look at my mod list in my signature. The nice thing, is that the items i’ve selected, are supporting mods for going big power.

right I understand about the supporting mods, that is expected. I would just hate to be making some decent power then having the transmission going boom. I want one for a DD year round but still have some get up when I want it. I wouldn’t be looking to make tons but I think around 350awhp would fit the car and what I want nicely.

The trans is going to be good for a lot of power. The clutch not so much, but thats pretty much a given. As always, its in how you drive it. As for weight, my 03 comes in around 3260 so the STI should be around 3300 ± 50lbs.

3298 lbs. according to the official specs. Who knows how accurate that is.

do the STI’s still come with the intercooler sprayers?

Yup, it sprays from the hood, down onto the intercooler. I am considering moving the cord up to the front mount location, to help prevent any heat soak, on hot days, after sitting in a parking lot. I will at least consider it, until I use the bottle location in the trunk for meth :headbang:

500 whp is safe if you’re just talking about the engine and driveline (clutch aside), but there are a lot of supporting mods required to get there including intercooler, fuel mods, turbo upgrade, engine management and tuning, etc.

Big progress today. I removed the bumper (pain in the ass). From there, I started removing the crash support beam, and then came in and started to trim away the bumper. I have like… 70% or so of the trimming done. The easy part. From here, I will have to fit the bumper, and keep shaving off sections until it fits, and then clean it up so that it looks perfect. I am up to the challenge though. At least, right now, the bumper would almost fit on, if I tried it.

I also realized that I want to go back to the stock STi foglight covers, instead of the WRX style fogs. I think it would look alot better. I also realized that I hate these plastic clips that hold the bumper on. There are like 50 of them, and it took me forever to find them all. Putting it back together should be fun.

If anyone else is going to be doing this, dont, bring it to innovative.

I will have pictures up tomorrow.

so when are you gonna get a 2.5RS hood?:stuck_out_tongue:

When they make one in aluminum, like my STi hood

 to non-functional scoops.

personally i think its just ugly on the sti. i have the same feelings for the wing(s) on them

I like the looks, because its ugly. And yes, i’d get rid of the hood and go RS style with no spoiler in the back, if they had a lightweight version that wasnt super expensive. My hood is so light, it would be alot heavier going to the RS style.

two words…

carbon fiber

i like the aero on stis.

I really want to get an 04-05 style scoop for my 06.

now nikuk can add the ricer.jpg comment…

OK, here are the pics from last night:

This is the factory skidplate, after I removed it:

And the grill and fog light surrounds:

Where did my bumper go?:

And here is the giant factory crash beam that I have to remove next:

The bumper, after I cut out the middle section:

I just did the basic cutting for now, here is the first section I removed:

It will look similar to this, but the IC will be higher, so it wont stick past the bottom:

The core is pretty huge!:

And its 3" thick:

Here’s a shot from behind, what it looks like:

Were both smiling  :

This will go on tomorrow!:

Lets hope that it goes smoothly. I cut some more before I went to bed. It is really close to being done cutting, but now its at the point where I have to keep mounting the bumper, cutting where it hits, and repeating.
