Stuffing a front mount onto my 05 STi - done!

Looking good, staying tuned for the end results.

It looks like you aren’t going to, but make sure you don’t cut out that black strip across the bumper. It needs to be there for the grill to fit right.

Wow its looking to get done with no one else helping

I got it on today, pics will come soon. I still have to finish some stuff up, and my hands look raw, and bloody. But… it looks great!

100% done! I have so many pics, but I need to re-size them and upload them. So, they will be here Monday. I am off to innovative tomorrow to get the car tuned, and then it should be back to good as new. Start to finish, the project probably took me… 9 hours. I was very cautious though, and spent more time then necessary on some parts, because I had the time, and was in no rush.

I was over yesterday watching Mark finish it up, I can vouch for how good it looks :headbang:

I like the looks, because its ugly. And yes, i’d get rid of the hood and go RS style with no spoiler in the back, if they had a lightweight version that wasnt super expensive. My hood is so light, it would be alot heavier going to the RS style.

get a wrx hood scoop now…

Does it fit on the 05 STi hood? If so, i’d gladly go to the WRX scoop and a wingless trunk.

–mark

yea should bolt on fine, they’re all the same hood they just get different scoops. Wingless trunk might be hard to find though, most people hold on to them. Theres a trunk trade thread on nesic though that might be worth a shot.

pics

I have a camera full of pics, but I have my resizing script and all my editing tools at work, so i’m going to until I go into work to upload them.

I did add some reflective heat wrap around the cold side pipe, where it goes over the turbo though. This, combined with the factory heat shield, should help keep my charge cold.

Here we go, all the pictures promised. Sorry 56k, there are 1.5 megs of photo’s here!

Lets start with me putting on the bumper beam:

And then I mounted the IC to the beam:

See here, how the IC mounts to the underside:

Awesome welding:

Now that the IC is mounted, I could start to run the piping:

Piping all hung!:

This support holds the hot site pipe:

Look how close the oil cap is to the hot side piping:

You can see where it goes through the fender hole:

This black piece needs trimming:

The fog light areas needed a bunch of attention:

I had to cut so much, to get these to fit still!:

Aren’t they beautiful :):

Getting close, just more cutting:

Here is an upclose shot of the hose and flange, re-using the stock diverter valve:

All done!:

I used some heat wrap here, on the colde side piping, over the turbo:

Up close, it looks great (at least i think):

Now that its all done, she will pose for you:

I will keep everyone posted on future changes to the car, like when I upgrade the turbo! I still want to lose these fogs, and go to STi fog covers, so that will most likely be my next upgrade.

Looks like everything worked out. Is that heat wrap really doing anything useful? Seems like that pipe is still going to get hot.

I am sure that it is going to still get warm, but any insulated/reflective material over that turbo is going to help out. I know the air is rushing through there pretty fast, but it isnt going to hurt it, thats for sure.

New exhaust goes on this week, so i’ll have pics of that soon!
