I am deff in for domestic heater fun.
watkins glen was before the spring meet at art park because i still had my evo for watkins glen and also carlisle
i had clutch issues about a week after carlisle and my car was down for about a month
during that month was when the spring meet was
and from what i cam remember watkins glen weather was super nice
i remember doing the track with all my windows wide open and only needing a hoody right after we got food because it was a little chilly
i dont know how many of you would be interested in doing a track day while you are at Woodward but i did one last year at Waterford Hills and had a blast. it was mostly Roush owners and mustangs, with the exception of a Corvette and STI. The ROEA (Roush Owners and Enthusiasts Association) sets up the track day.
its a 1.5 mile track. 13 turns a little more technical than Dunnville. i got up to ~95 mph on the back stretch i think just for a speed comparison. pretty cool track with the variety of different corners it has.
here is a view of the track
http://www.waterfordhills.com/info/facilitymap07.pdf
and here is a video from my car last year.
it was $200 bucks i think. they have different classes that do around 20 minute sessions and rotate through. novice, intermediate and expert. not really a big difference between int. and expert, i ran in expert since there was less cars and i didn’t get held up as often since there is only passing on the back stretch IIRC. about the same guidelines as Dunnville when it comes to tech. inspection.
so just something to ponder about if you are going to Woodward
Ok, added a poll about the spring meet. If people suggest alternatives to Watkins Glen then I’ll add those in.
Woodward looked like a decent time.
The only thing id say about having the spring meet at WGI on opining day, is that it is kinda far. IDK how that may effect some attendance, but i know not everyone likes to make a day of it, and going out there is certainly an all day thing.
maybe itll be like last year. when me and bing went faster on the way to the track than we actually did on the track hahaha
LOL Unlikely you’ll go faster than we did the 4th weekend. 165 on the back stretch, threshold braking ext LOL On a parade lap!!! haha
That’s not something to be proud of.
right. not doing that again
I’d like to attend the spring meet but to me WGI is too far considering I’m not really interested in going down there for opening day. I’m not sure about how receptive the local go cart places would be to having a large meet with their facilities reserved but if that could be arranged it would probably be a good time (up until we get asked to leave for crashing carts).
I’ll add that I’m disappointed that no plan B for Onyx Syndicate track days is being drawn up until Dunnville is officially dead. I was hoping to see some interest in Nelson Ledges, Beave Run or Mid-Ohio. I think the interest is there to hit some other tracks even if Dunnville is miraculously allowed to re-open.
Your such a child <3
fixed that for ya
There are bigger things in the works for track days, just nothing to announce yet. And we’d much rather have days at Dunnville where the costs are cheaper, attendance is usually high and the location is close.
Not to mention it’s much easier to front $3k+ for a session at Dunnville than it is to front the money for larger tracks ($12k for Watkins Glen…) So with that in mind, there are already plenty of events planned at the tracks you mentioned that we can just jump in on rather than renting / paying for the whole place.
Those voting ‘no’ to WG for a spring meet, what are your ideas for a location?
I have to agree with this (and my car gets 50mpg lol)
And that’s why I’m asking, but I need suggestions!
People didn’t have a problem with the distance to Letchworth :gotme:
WGI is an additional 70 miles PAST Letchworth. Hell it takes me almost an hour and a half to get to the Glen and I live NEAR Letchworth.
im in for blown euros again this year whenever its announced
