dependent on family (2nd child) i’m in for Blown euros and Woodward Dream Cruise…
I’ve never been to the Blown Euros thing and Woodward was kick ass… we should see if those same guys will be going and throwing parties like they did…
For Spring opener… if DMCC Toronto really is on the same weekend then i have to do DMCC. And since that means to WG for me i wouldnt mind going opening weekend but not sure how likely that is with Kingston on the way.
There will be 2 Toronto DMCC’s at Mosport this year, so that will be awesome.
We could also think about including CSCS in there at TMP since it’s close and a decent time.
i feel like we should set up some type of something for the glens opening day like last year since that was a ton of fun
but i also feel like we need to have some type of meet that is closer for everyone and is more of a hang out vs something with racing
as far as suggestions as to where the meet should be i really dont know
what about something with statue park like the one set up 2 years ago, that was my first NYSpeed meet/cruise and i had some fun on that. but i dk?
Went to H2o last year, it was amazing! and its defiantly not just a Euro scene going on durring the weekend. it was heavily flooded with cars from every other maker. Yes the actual show is a Euro car specific. But Most of the fun was all the GTGs going on all down the strip all weekend. saw some amazing cars, had a amazing time with friends and made new friends also. all and all it was a great weekend and i would suggest anyone to go, regardless of euro car love or not
What I have noticed for past “spring meets” is that people show up late to the start locations for the cruises out there, some people only attend the hour or so spent at the start location and blow off the rest… then when the group has thinned out and left, the cruise there is fun, then everyone gets to the spot and gets bored and people start leaving in packs instead of all of us cruising back home again.
I feel like that might be due to the fact the locations are relatively close…which makes it easy for people to be “flaky” and not actually commit to spending the day as it had been planned out in the first place. It seemed like letchworth was really successful and I think it was because you HAD to dedicate the day to it to even go in the first place
A spring meet that would be in april might be better because it would be a touch warmer, and give more members time to plan/get projects done, etc. I think a location marginally farther away would make people divide more yes/no rather than such a huge gray area of flakers and such, and having people attending contribute to planning/bringing activities/games/etc. would make it a more successful meet. It seems some people show up expecting to not get bored staring at each other’s cars but never bring anything to do to interact with the other members
that being said, I always end up being one of the first ones to a cruise start location, and one of the last to leave the meet spot, as I thoroughly enjoy the meets, talking to you guys about your cars, and shooting the shit/thanking those that spent all the time planning. If there is any way I can contribute or help ya out josh don’t hesitate to ask me.
Nick, the spring meet was at the end of May last year. We’ve always tried to have it on the same weekend but maybe we should push it back to June?
The last spring meet was close and we had about 70 cars over a few hours, but it wasn’t meant to be an all-day thing. Just a cruise to a park to hang out. Two years ago we had it at Dunnville and it was great, minus how long it took the frozen burgers to cook, lol. There were a ton of people there that year, I forget the count.
I think most people just want to meet up and hang out for a few hours at a spring meet. I’d rather have it in conjunction with something else to do (Watkins Glen, Dunnville, etc.) but maybe not for a spring meet.
my bad josh I had a RE-RE moment there…I def. meant june lol. I really really liked the spring meet/trackday combo that you threw at dunnville…minus long waits for food (even though it was phenominal food and the cake was epic). chesnut ridge in 07 was def. alot of fun because so many people showed up. last year’s meet was far more dead in comparison…the overall number of cars was large…but it was small groups coming and going…with maybe a rotating average of 30-40 cars actually there at any given time.
thinking/talking about all this just re-angers me that we dont have the luxury of dunnville anymore lol
also with the change in border rules i bet alot of people dont have a passport/enhanced licence.that would prob stop alot of people from getting up there is it was avaliable… as for a spring meet id love to cruse up to CR i can prob get us a deal on some pavilians
