wat kind of tires are on those rims? they look like they are my old rims. did you buy this off a kid with a black gsr.
Ya ill get on that…im sure he’ll share the links lol
thanks for all the feedback guys. cant wait to get my first turbo’ed civ…
krazy- thats exactly what i was thinking. that reall makes the purchase less sketchy. shell be on the road friday.( if it doesnt need major work, aka turbo lines, new turbo, tranny.)
mafdark- fuck off. your criticsm isnt need at all. i know it looks fucking ricey, but its better than a front end damaged civic, in primer, with 220k, burnt clutch, shot tranny. if you have nothing good to say dont say anything at all.
freakls7- i dont know what kind of rims. ill post pictures once its in my possesion. this car belongs to a guy out in gloversville thats currently in iraq. there a gunmetal color on low pros. ill give you more info about them when i get the car. i dont think the guy had an integra either. just this civic and minivan when i went.
wayne- you never got back to me. if i bring you this car, can you check it out for me? i want to see what it might need. i know it needs a turbo timer. most likely new turbo oil lines. and im sure a tune up wouldnt hurt. anyways, send me a pm brother.
sounds like the car is more trouble than it’s worth
skier. are you refering to the said civic in the post above yours? thats my current car and is completly more trouble than its worth.
the new car im getting on friday its in 200% better shape. only things i think it needs is a turbo time, new turbo oil return and feed lines.
loving the e36 m3 sideskirts, they really set the car off
kramer, couldnt tell if that was sarcastic or not. either way I happen to like the sideskirts
just remember its lowered on kyb’s…
wish it had a stock bumber, only thing so far i didnt like about the car. ill find a picture of one that looks like it online.
What motor? What turbo?
LOL I got back to you immediately after your post homie! check pms.
haha yeah, i was kinda of out of it this morning. thanks, ill deffiently come see you man.
im headed off to get the car in a couple hours. i think ill start a thread for the car once i have time to take pictures and shit like that.
-rep :Idiots
you are buying a turbo civic that you have no idea about and this is your biggest concern? save the 100 bucks and put it on something a little more useful.
do you know what fuel system is in the car? what engine management system? etc.
uhh, despite my poor but growing knowledge of turbos, i bought it. brought it home after blowing the damn battery fuse(that will never happen again…) ive had it on the road for 3-4 days. runs, starts everytime, sounds like a damn turbo diesel truck(in an amazing woosh, spooling way) only things ive noticed since the purchase with the lack of info given, boost gauge line wasnt attached and actualy broken in the spot on the back where you plug it into the guage. fixed that. had a p28 a01, which is a vtec automatic ecu, kind of wierd. put my p28 a52(not sure if its a52 thats the 5 speed si/ex ecu, its outa my 93 ex.) im trying to get my hands on a p07? (jdm ecu for the sohc zc.)i know there rare. might just have to get my ecu some hondata action. seems like the car is getting confused on boosting sometimes, which i think is because the ecu isnt ideal. what i mean is ill hit 5k and it seems like its holding back. only happens half the time im pulling on it hard, which is rarely. anyways im rambling on and ill try and get pics and more info as its my day off.
Like I asked before, give me some details as to the setup in the car, engine, turbo, transmission, spark plugs, boost level, and management. Thanks.
What caused the fuse to blow?
How much boost are you making?
Are you saying you just put in another ECU?
Do NOT do that. It will not help you at all. I’m not sure why you think it would.
This is due to the lack of a tune. a turbo’d motor doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have the proper support for it all (aka injectors/tuning)
I highly suggest that you dont start the car again until you have a better idea of whats going on. You are risking the motor by driving it if it doesn’t have a tune.
hey mafdark, thanks alot for the info. ill try and answer your questions.
it needed a jump as it was sitting for months, i put the jumpers on backwards… most likely the dumbest thing ever, i know, ive learned my lesson.
he said its set to 8psi, and i see the guage hit 8. safe to say 8psi…
what happened with the ecu swap, took the a01 out, thinking i destroyed it when i tried to jump it. put my p28 a52 in there. theres no difference in how the car runs between the two might i add.
the reason i want the p07 or whatever the zc sohc computer is that the engine is a sohc zc. i thought that might help, along with a tune.
cash is really tight at the moment, do you have any price ranges for me to get a tune done.
and also what route should i go for injectors/managment.
little more info on the car also:(that i can remember of the top of the head)
SOHC JDM ZC engine with an est. 50-60k.( never know with a used car i guess )
-He also said it has nippon pistons in it.
-He ALSO claimed, that morgan from synapse either previously owned this or did work on it. havent called them yet to confirm. maybe ill give them a call.
“jdm motorsports” intercooler. im assuming the t3/t4 is the same company(like i said before probaly a shitastic ebay one.)
no tune/fuel managment/injectors.
no idea what wires.
any more q’s just ask and ill try my best to answer.
That’s kind’ve what I expected. Simply put, driving a car on a stock ECU and stock injectors will blow the motor for sure.
A turbo works by forcing more air into the motor. In order to get more power from it you therefore need to add more fuel via larger injectors and control them with some sort of tuning program in order to maintain the proper air fuel ratio.
If you air to fuel ratio is rich (too much fuel) you risk flooding the motor and getting fuel in your oil which could lead to a spun bearing.
If the ratio is lean (not enough fuel) you risk detonation and could blow a piston/rod/cylinder.
So again, if you have a turbo and stock injectors with no tuning to tell them to pump out more fuel, then you are going to be running lean. Even if its been tuned but is on stock injectors they aren’t large enough to put out enough fuel for 8psi which is why most people put in DSM 450cc injectors which can be found in a junk yard or online for cheap.
In other words, you are in a bad situation. You’ll either blow your motor and have to buy a new one for $700 (cheap stock D block installed) and install that. Or you can pay up front for injectors, hondata+ECU, and someone to tune it for probably approximately the same price as a blown motor.
If you’re lucky, maybe the old ECU has been chipped and can be tuned. Maybe you have upgraded injectors and don’t know it. That will save you some money, but I suggest finding someone from the forum who knows what they’re talking about to come take a look before you risk blowing it up.
Dont know if its too late or if u already got ur answer, but I work for the DMV through my work and the suspension follows the driver not the car, so ur fine to register it, its the person who u bought it off is the one who cant register it. So dont worry and get it registered
my main question is why were you insistent on it needing a turbo timer?
honestly i didnt know much going into it and thought that was the only thing needed. to prevent the amount of wear you might get from shutting off a hot turbo… now i see the bigger picture. injectors, tune, fuel managment.
