taking out the dash

i need to take out my dash, i have most of the bolts out but there are a few up near the top, by where it meets the window that i havent gotten yet and are hard to get at. i was just wondering if someone that has done this before can give me some tips or w/e or just try to explain to me where the bolts up top are. this is an s13 btw.

did you take the vents out at the back of the dash? if so you should fairly easily be able to get to those bolts, you may need an extension

yea i tryed real quick to take those out but i didnt think i could get at the bolts from there, i was trying to get at it from underneath. thanks i will try that tmrw then

if i recall corrctly from the outside, behind the hood wheres there your vents, you need to remove those panels and you can access some bolts holding the dahs in place by the window.

i could be wrong, its been a while sice i removed my dash.

^^^^^neg…just remove to top long vent for defrosting the front windsheild and you’ll find 3-4 there…theres some behind the radio after you remove all that, a few behind the cluster and you’ll have to remove the glove box and theres a couple all around the outer edge where the glovebox was…all in all 2 hours worth of work taking out and putting it back in…this was my 1st time too on a S13. Putting it back in is a far more difficult unless you have a extra hand.

i did my s14 and u gotta take that top vent off like enzo said, becareful, its a little flimsy (s14), and u might need that pivoting adapter for your rachet, but its fairly simple from there, careful not to smack your windshield and crack it

and u gotta kinda lift it up when u get all the bolts out and yank it pretty hard to pull it out.

best advice i can give u is get the diagram from the fsm, thats what i did and it took 1.5 hours, pretty easy and no hunting or digging bolts needed. a little tricky getting it back in, just take your time and dont be afraid to give er

keep your original glove box in so your key works to lock it, or if its different color, switch the lock cylinder

good luck
