taking the meatless plunge...

true, true, I know. I buy my meat from the local farm. i.e my step father, anyone can make the choice to buy local farm fresh food. I do like my veggies! that also comes from being a farmer, I am simple, I dont want to put a LOT of thought into what I can and cant eat.

Thanks on the type-o

You don’t get on a soapbox crying about the animals, ignorant people who don’t know any better still believe that’s the only reason not to eat meat.

I’m about to change my diet a little more this summer once the wife gets better, remove more of the red meat and sub in more poultry. I couldn’t give it up all together, I enjoy sushi and an occasional steak too much.

one of the many reasons i decided to give this a shot was bc of an episode of this american life where they go to a pig farm. the whole farm was like one big clean room, it was fucked

and i still love, and eat, sushi. just had some yesterday

lol, beat me to it.

I didn’t fully read your first post, but did you stop eating fish as well?

Well this first thing you’ll notice is probably a change in your wallet. If I cut out the fast food for a month it’s an easy 100-200 savings.

A man I knew just died at 95, he ate lots o meat. I don’t know anyone over 70 that drinks and smokes. Just sayin…

Tobacco smoke contains over 4000 chemicals.

nah son

yeah i dont eat fast food (mcd’s bk ect) to begin with, never really have… i do love pizza though, a lot

thats crazy news to me. just crazy. i had no idea smoking was bad for you

Angry Matt?

Good luck with not eating meat. I tried the pescatarian route but went out to dinner and saw a giant steak on someones table and that ended that :stuck_out_tongue:

Any diet change is difficult no matter what it is due to the chemicals in your brain that are released when eating foods you want (ie meats, carbs and fried foods especially). It’s not easy good luck.

Congrats on the decision. It is one I never plan on making, but do what you feel is best for you.

On a side note, if anyone gets the chance, the best pizza ever would be an Bar-B-Q Rib Pizza with bacon from Mister Pizza. So much win on one pie.

Oh come on. Moral vegans vs misguided health nuts vs educated health nuts vs ignorant vegan haters is one of the all time great debates! Here, like this:

Buzz. Wrong answer.

For anyone who is a vegetarian for moral reasons… I have absolutely no reason to question your decision and respect you quite a bit for sticking to something so difficult because you believe it to be right.

For anyone who is a vegetarian for health reasons, or is even considering it, why on earth would you eliminate an essential food source in the name of health? Here, educate yourself. Meat isn’t making you sick. Grains, legumes, and dairy is. Gluten in particular. Here, jump in with both feet. It might save your life:

The book I’m reading by a crossfit gym owner/research biochemist/nutrition expert talks a bit about one of his clients who was an ex coke head who said that quitting coke was easier than quitting refined carbs. Or maybe it was heroin. Either way he was explaining that they both (coke and sugar) hit the same opium receptors in your brain.[COLOR=“Silver”]

AMEN to the anti gluten crusade.

By any chance has anybody read this book yet? I was told it was excellent but I haven’t bought it yet.

So when the gf complains I’m lazy and don’t help around the apt, I can tell her to get in the kitchen and make me a veggie dish if she wants me to have the energy to help? lol

despite popular belief, mighty taco IS FAST FOOD y0

  1. The right direction is boosting your civic no matter what you eat and not letting your gf stop you.

  2. You did ask for it…literally lol

Looks like it’s spot on with what I’ve been reading lately. If you want to look good naked and live to be 120 for the love of God get your insulin down.

Grass fed steak with some veggies and avacado. Then clean her apartment since she earned it.

meh i think its quite over-rated.

I can’t compare it to drugs of any sort but I can tell you when I went from drinking 4 or 5 cans of sunkised every evening + all the mountain dew and coolaid throughout my daily routine to water I didn’t sleep for two nights. I was freaking out and didn’t make the connection at the time that it was probably my body craving sugar. I actually missed a day of work over that crap for the first time in probably 4 years. I significantly reduced my sugar intake and started keeping water in my work van instead of soda and after a little while my energy through the day was much more steady drinking more water. I did not eliminate soda but I drink much less of it a feel better for it . My food intake is horrible though. I need to find a woman that can cook.

My 4000 chemical comment was more of a perspective thing. I know you know smoking is bad but not everyone knows the 4000 chemical thing. People say you shouldn’t eat meat because of what they feed animals. Is that worse than constantly putting 4000 chemicals into your blood stream? Again, just perspective.
