does anyone ever actually pay the taxes when buying a car, or do the lie with the bill of sale and get a ridiculously fake price to save on taxes?
is there any need to state the exact price that you payed for it?
does it mess up your insurance or anything?
can they catch you for that? has anyone been caught?

i just got outa state pen for tha ish.
who doesnt do it. just get the guy to put a different price down.
ya thats what i did when i got my car.
we put the price as lower then i actually paid to save alittle on taxes
but it almost screwd me over with my bank loan as it was a different price…
I say I got it for free. Pay 13 cents in tax
u pay the full amount of tax for watever ur bill of sale is.
they never asked me for a bill of sale… so i got the car for “$300”
According to the office i went to, its all dependent upon the value of the car in the books, not the bill of sale.
They no longer have values for older 240s on record, so any price goes.
I told them I bought mine for $100, so I payed about 14-15$ at the time lol,
always better buying older cars from private then a dealer…save much needed money and especially useless taxes.
They charge you taxes on whichever is greater: the book value or your bill of sale.
If you get the owner of the car your buying to go in with you to say it is a gift then you don’t pay anything… Usually is what I try to do.
